4 months into matched betting and I'm thinking about moving onto accas. I've watched PA tutorials but would like to know which methods you use most. Also any acca newbie tips?

Also, would it not look suspicious (from the bookies' perspective) if I suddenly start placing acca bets? I've been placing bets on big matches with UK teams so far and from what I can see in the acca catcher I would be required to place bets on international leagues too.

You don't have to bet on those weird games you can always swap them out and I think there's an option to limit what leagues get shown for your accas as well :)

I tend to do 4-5 NORMAL accas to 1 LOCK IN acca

I do 5 or 6 regular ones per week. Jon is right, there is a button you can check on the acca catcher for selecting only 'popular' results, this will give you the major leagues only. I usually use this option myself and it does give good results. Don't take any old result though. You should bee looking for a loss of £2.xx for a £25 acca (those that can have a bigger money back - e.g. £50 for Will Hill will show as a loss of £4-5). If the results aren't there try later, there will eventually be some good matches.

I do Lay At Start Accas mostly as I was burned by experience with sequential lay accas - on an enhanced darts treble I layed the first leg, then layed the second leg once the first leg had won...then fell asleep but the third leg had already started! Tried to salvage the situation and ended up a good chunk down, so ask yourself have I got the time to concentrate and ensure every step is correct?

William Hill is a good place to practice with accumulators. Start with a £20 acc on a Monday that fully settles by Sunday and it qualifies you for a £5 free bet (on anything) the following week, that should more than cover any qualifying losses from the acc.

I prefer the small and steady profits of locking in sequentially, but its worth trying out the different methods to see what you like best.

Thanks everyone, I've just joined the William Hill Offer Club and will start with the bet £20 get £5 offer with a lock-in acca - can't lose that way. I just hope I can remember to stay near the laptop when it's time to lay each leg!

If you click advanced on the acca on acca catcher you can turn on email alerts which will email you when you need to lay an acca

Thing to remember is that they will only email 15 mins before kick-off of each leg. I usually put reminders in Outlook, sometimes even the day before (to keep an eye on the lay odds)

I've been playing about with the lay all mode. Some small profits to be made there too :) I hope my bank balance will be enough.

For people who do normal accas - the qualifying losses are quite substantial (for a beginner like me) - how often would you say you lose on normal accas as opposed to getting the free bet? It does seem to be the most risky option.

The odds tend to drop I find as the acca goes on so I don't find the losses to be THAT bad to be honest

I am typically looking for a QL of around 10% ish when I choose an acca. £2.xx for a £25 one and £5.xx for a £50 one. I don't find too much issue finding these as I wait until the markets have built up a bit of liquidity (also remember that Acca Catcher assumes you will be placing the maximum bet on your Acca, so a WH acca showing with a QL of -£5.xx will be -£2.xx for a £25 Acca). This week you will find there won't be too many good 'popular' accas until nearer the weekend as there are not many 'popular' matches midweek

Wish me luck - I took the plunge and bet on my first ever acca over the coming weekend. Lock-in method. It will be a bit tight on Sunday with matches at 2 and 4 but hopefully it will go fine :)

Oh and forgot to ask - I'm using the match&go spreadsheet. does anyone know how to record accas in it?

1) I have done around 15-20 acca's since I got free acca catcher with PA (more before, but sooooo longwinded #zzz) and I only have got free bets 4 times - 2x£10 and 2x£25. If you assume a £3 QL for each one that's £45-60 QL and £70 fb's which you can easily get 80% out of with a double/treble = £56. That's maybe £10 profit, or possibly breaking even.

2) Conversely, I can easily get £3-5 profit locked in per acca which would be minimum £60 profit at the conservative end. Has been as much as £10 with a nice smash in of the odds, or maybe £1-2 if they drift. £3-4 is average and I'm gubbed with PP and WH - WH you can lock in £15 each £50 acca.

That's my take on it...... #LockInForTheWin

As for Match & Go... Enter one row per bet. So one row for the back bet, the one acca placed at the bookie. Then as many lay bets as you place. It'll calculate the locked in profit automatically when all the bets have settled.

eg
Back - PaddyPower - Man U/Chelsea/Everton/Spurs/Liverpool acca - Free Bet SNR = N - Stake £50 - Odds 5.12 - ...
Lay - Smarkets - Man U to win - Free Bet SNR = N - Stake 35.32 - Odds 1.40 ...

:)

Oh and also always tick the 'popular' leagues option on PA - a really great addition imho. I haven't seen a 'dodgy' acca since selecting that. Well maybe including Stevenage this week on some... :p

You will need to do international leagues, but the 'popular' button ensures that you only use matches in top leagues like Spain's La Liga, which is their Premier League. So it might be worth expanding some of your mug bets into those leagues. Spain, Italy, Germany and France are good ones. Otherwise it'll be hard to get all UK matches in your accas and still make good profit.

Also, you asked about it looking suspicious to suddenly start doing accas - start small and build up. So for WillHill, do maybe that £20 one you've mentioned, then do a £10, maybe do a mug treble. Don't just dive in at £50 going for the refund each time. The only one I've really done that with is Genting because their max refund is £20 and my usual bet with Genting is £20, so I just started adding the odd acca in and now I do one most weeks, but I've spent the past few months easing into it. Don't do more than one with any one bookie at a time, don't start a new one immediately after one finishes until you've built up an acca profile with them.

I like a good acca, I do the lock in method, had some fantastic odds coming in, but a couple of bad ones going out. And two horrific laying mistakes - one that cost me £33 and one that earned me £67 so still quids up.

You will do fine @sillymoo

You've chosen to do Lock In method so you literally can't lose!!

Thanks Jon :) I've actually decided to be adventurous and added another lock in acca for this weekend. Figured that if I can handle two at the start it will give me more confidence to do more accas.
