I'm still waiting to hear back from Leapforce so I'm assuming it's a no from them. So in light of this I am looking to apply to one of the above. I can do approx 1-2 hours per day around my full time job and children etc, so wondered if anyone has any preferences out of the two? What sort of return should I expect on about 10 hrs per week? I sort of get the feeling that Leapforce is the better of the lot, so I'm a bit annoyed with myself that I put in a naff application

I'm sure you didn't put in a naff application!

The only difference I can think of between the two are that lionbridge uses to terminate your contract after 11 months

That might no longer be the case anymore though, not sure

Ok, I'll take a look...11 months would still help hack into this credit card!!

They've got a new task available

We are contacting you because Appen is currently looking for native speakers. As you are listed in our database as a speaker of UK English, we think you might be ideal for this project.

About the task
In this project, you will be recording 14 calls, each 4 minutes in duration, in natural English by using mobile or landline phone. The recording session will take approximately 2 hours. You must complete all calls in one sitting, on the same day.

Once you have successfully completed the recording and we have checked the quality of the calls, you will receive a payment of GBP £36.00 through AppenOnline or your nominated payment method.

Requirements
· You must be a native speaker of English

· You must have grown up or lived for more than 10 years in the United Kingdom

· You must have an internet-enabled computer

· You must have access to a mobile and landline phone

I've been accepted to this, email I got said £45 so fingers crossed that's what we all get!

Well done Falconers! I have been doing this for the past year and it is a great gig.

One of you probably took my place as I've had to go abroad for work for a couple of months but I will re apply when I return.

Good luck with it and enjoy :)
How difficult was it to do? Also, how long did it take you? Did you have to put your full shift in, or could you finish quicker?

Not heard back about the phone recording task, so looks like I did not get that one, grrr ........

I DID get the Voice Data Task and had a project on my dashboard which I attempted earlier in the week but on the last section (30 items to do with 3 x separate descriptions to each one) for some reason it did not seem to save the last answer and would not let me submit it or anything. I raised a support ticket but have not heard anything yet.

On a more positive note I have been asked to take the WSE test, so fingers crossed please that I pass it and do get some regular work with them :)

Just looked at the WSE video with tips and examples and read the instructions and guidelines that Appen have sent me prior to doing the 'Searches' test.
To be honest I thought there would be more information and the chance of doing some examples or something. Not confident enough with the examples shown.
Do I get more details with the actual test? I can only take it once - in one sitting so need to be as prepared as possible.

Looking at Appen employee WSE reviews is not very encouraging either - not flexible, inconsistent grading, unrealistic targets, intensive exam to take before you can even try to get any work. Will ignore them all for now, and hopefully attempt it at least .................................

Any tips please?

Also, just got an email about a UK Speech Collection Project from Appen.

This has to be done on an Android device only so is not suitable for me. Might be worth checking your emails/dashboard etc.

There was a formstack link in my email but I'm not sure if I am allowed to divulge it as the email was intended for me personally. Perhaps @Jon could advise me, if anyone wants it?

Does the form look like a general one when you click through to it?

Can someone help, please. I have applied for work from home jobs on the Appen website. On my dashboard it says "received, under review". Been like that for a while now. Does this mean I am still in with a chance? I don't know how it works as I have never applied before. Thx.

Welcome @Kay Ashton :) I've only recently joined Appen myself and I think mine also said 'under review' for a while (I'm hopeless with time-scales).

I don't think they are particularly quick though, I submitted a support ticket on the 8th July and am still waiting for them to reply, even though they have marked it as 'priority' or something to that effect.

Thanks Knopfler, it does seem like they don't rush to reply. I guess no news is good news. Good luck with your response as well and I hope you are not in Dire Straits for too long :)

I was a few weeks I think before I heard and now I get offered the speech recording jobs every couple of months or so.

Had my first email job from Appen today but it says I have to find a suitable friend /family member to call and check that they are available! Is that right? Anybody else got the same job? I'll need to have a read of everything later, needs to be completed by Thursday and don't want to mess up or look bad cancelling my first job!
