Not sure what's going on but Bitcoin rocketing over the last few days and still accelerating. Must be a large correction coming, surely.

Thats exactly what everyone who invested in the South Sea Company said.

Its going up and down but raised to nearly double what it was just a few weeks ago. I guess its the same with any investment - only invest what you are prepared to lose.

The trouble is, I am prepared to lose £100 of Bitcoin in 2008....I'm not pepared to lose £1000 now! :D

Its a $2500 dollar dip when it was up at $21000. It started the month at less than $10000 so it is a rollercoaster if you are on it.

If it drops below 10k again it will either collapse loads more (due to investor fear) or will shoot to $100k as investors rush to buy it ("do the opposite of what the market is doing" school of investment).

I put
$50k in bitcoin
$50k in Etherium

and I'm currently $10k up since I invested a few days ago, however $12k profit was Bitcoin, $2k loss was Etherium.

I'm not sure about the non-main player (bitcoin) cryptocurrencies as they rise very quickly with BTC rises but can fall much harder if BTC falls.

:)

(of course that was virtual funds!)

Normally trade stocks on nasdaq but up 33% on LTC currently. Late to the party but not bad since i'm playing with lotto money i can afford to loose.

Interesting article. Everyday I get the feeling that I've missed the boat with btc and, for such a small scale investor like myself, it's not worth getting on board to only get a 0.0001 of a coin. And then, of course, the value goes up :)

My concern at the moment is that there's no middle ground. It's either suggested that btc will hit $100k each or it's 'Dutch tulips' all over again.
The futures market development(s) is interesting with the market already pricing in this development (and bitcoin being seen as being legitimised)... cf. to the nay-sayers suggesting the rise is institutional investors with mega funds pumping the price only to short it in the futures market.

I guess time will tell.

Anyway... Is everyone on here using eToro or does anyone else use Coinbase etc?
Additionally are you keeping all your coins in the exchange, paper wallets or has anyone gone for a hardware nanoledger or similar?

Side note : Damn that snow sits on hulk well!

Very festive Jon!

2 companies in the article I posted (ticker symbols: MARA and RIOT) jumped 45% yesterday. Damn, I knew I should have bought a handful of shares. Oh well.

My profit on Bitcoin is the same as my profit for Litecoin now at the time of writing. Glad I spread my risk across a handful of currencies.

Well since my first post on this thread I have to admit that I've not put any more money into cryptocurrency as yet although playing with the virtual money on Etorro I would by now have definitely made money if I'd gambled on the rising price of the top cryptocurrencies over the last couple of weeks. Impending redundancy has left me with less money to play with but I will probably put at least £100 into cryptocurrency investment over the next couple of weeks. At this point I am up nearly £7000 on a £10 initial investment 5 years ago taking into account Bitcoin and Bitcoin cash plus Bitcoin gold (if I can find how to liquify it) it's still pie in the sky monopoly money till I cash it in. I would say there's still money to be made even on small investments at this point though. The crypto markets are on fire at the minute.

Not yet. As I say I'm still testing Etorro with virtual funds before putting money in. I'm down about £150 from last night on my Bitcoin wallet holdings but that's par for the course and i would expect it to go back up again on past trends. Just read about Crypto kittens (Etherium collectables) https://www.thesun.co.uk/money/5087...ties-cryptocurrency-bitcoin-currency-trading/
Sounds like a crazy idea but people are breeding and selling them lol
