HI all

One of the main reasons I have found myself here is that due to ill health I have mounting debt and I need to find a way out of it. I was wondering if there are any others on here who are earning money from home while dealing with health issues and if there are any top tips on how to keep organised, keep motivated etc. FYI i have fibromyalgia, pernicious anaemia, osteopenia and coeliac disease (why do I have to have a load of conditions I can't spell ha-ha). I also work full time and would like to reduce my debt so I can reduce my hours, is this a pipe dream do you think?

Hello! *waves*

Firstly it’s not a pipe dream - it will take time and effort but not a pipe dream. I was you in 2011. I work from Home full time now and have done since 2013.

If your debts are mounting, and spiralling our of control then you need to take debt advice from a charity such as Stepchange. They don’t charge and they’re super supportive and can help you work to an agreement with creditors where you can get some breathing space again.

With regards to health issues I’ve got hashimotos / Graves’ disease, fibromyalgia, pcos, pernicious anaemia and a whole host of other good things, plus I’ve had two strokes. These would be my top tips:

Build things up slowly.
Try lots of ways to make money to find what works for you personally.
Don’t compare yourself to others.
Be kind to yourself.
Don’t work yourself into the ground.
Realise you may be a bit more limited than others but that is ok.
Every £1 you make is £1 more than you had before you tried.

I run my own blog, and I make money online from a variety of different ways.
Over the years I’ve cut back on what is low paying but when I started out I initially aimed for £50 a week extra. Then gradually increased.

I’ve got some links in my signature but if you ever want to get my attention with a question just type @ then my username and click on it!

Take care x

Well hello fellow P.A. sufferer :) I've also got sundry other autoimmune conditions. I like working from home, as my commute is from my bed to my sofa - very useful on a bad day. Earning a decent wage from home is very doable. And as your own boss, you can work around how you feel.
There's loads of info on here about the best way to earn, and how to find something to suit you. Folks will also give you lots of help and encouragement along the way and if you have any questions, just ask away.
Have fun, and welcome to the earn as you lounge/watch Netflix/drink coffee club.
I didn't know that you were a paid up member of the red bull club too @katykicker

I have depression which in the last 2 months has been bad, at my age I can speak about it better than I could when I was a lot younger, so slowly I'm trying to build up my on line work so I can lower my hours at work, and with out the help and ideas from this community I wouldn't have got as far as I am now. So TMS many thanks XX

Hi,

I'll wave a hello too. I have PCOS, Pernicious Anaemia (and really struggling at the moment as my b12 jab is still 2 weeks away!) and its looking likely that I have type 2 diabetes as well now. I work part time at the moment and it's hard juggling that with family and health problems so like you I am looking to work from home as much as I can. This website has been a godsend though. It's definitely improved our finances. It does require effort but can be done around your energy levels. I'm aiming to hand my notice in at work by summer and commit to working from home full time from September. I'm firmly convinced that its achievable.

I found myself here being on long term sick for a fibromyalgia type condition. I used to supplement my income with overtime and working for other departments within my workplace; which I cannot do at the moment. I am a stubborn, old school, "get on with it" type of person so I just think i have what i have, no point in getting down about it or worried about a flare up.
I am back at work soon but wont be able to indulge in the OT i used to do for health reasons so money has to come from somewhere. I actually think that I googled "passive income" and this came up. I could be wrong though.
MB hopefully will be my route to extra pennies. For me the trick has just been to do what i can, when i can and stop at that. All that "pushing ones self" is for younger people.

Hi, I am similar. Although I work in healthcare I find my own health dwindling due to chronic back problems and coeliac disease. Alas, my time working for others is slowly coming to an end and I desperately need to find other ways to support myself. I find currently cryptocurrency is a good investment but at this present time is very risky. Domain names can make big money but often can take years before u see a return!

I shall look forward to using the tips on the blog to see if I can establish myself as some of the existing members already have :)

Some great advice and inspiration on this thread! I have a type of autoimmune arthritis which makes my joints painful some days. So it’s great that I’m finding ways of making money from my sofa as when my joints flare up I can still be doing something productive!

I'm with you on this I would like to significantly reduce my hours, really struggling. Got myself i a heap of debt though so I think my progress will be slow. Started matched betting but have stalled after first two offers because I had to withdraw my winnings to pay some bills so will have to wait now until the end of the month to try again. But its a marathon not a sprint I guess. Good luck, I hope you are finding things that will help you be able to work for yourself.

That's a great positive way to look at it, I also think it helps your mental health when you can still feel like your time is valuable even when you're feeling bad.

Haha you're not wrong. Lots of us on here.

Hey, at least we are doing something instead of just feeling sorry for ourselves :):):)
Haha I have spent way too long feeling sorry for myself, I need an attitude adjustment as much as anything now.

My husband has rheumatoid arthritis and says he needs it! He's had it since he was a boy and this is the best painkiller he has had. Have they given you the stuff to stop it giving you stomach problems too? If not go back and ask for it! Long term use can cause ulcers I think

No they haven't. It's for use only on my flare up days and my consultant told me to make sure I use it as minimal as possible (not used it once yet) and stop immediately if I get any reflux or problems.

I used it before and it caused bloating but I’m ridiculously sensitive to meds! I use arcoxia (etoricoxib) now and it’s great.
