Seems to have dried up for me lately, only made £1.52 since beginning of January with two studies, have vp installed so probably just quiet due to time of year and not the right demographic for me.

At this time of year a lot of students should be starting to write up their dissertations rather than researching them. So there won't be a lot of undergraduate studies around.

I've never done any work for Prolific before, is it just stuff from UK Universities you get then?
I'm REALLY surprised about this as it is one of the most popular survey sites and your demongraphics would probably mean that you get invited to quite a few surveys?

I stopped doing them a few months ago as I realised that I was on the computer quite a lot just waiting for a survey to crop up for me (even with visual ping alerts) and unfortunately I don't get many surveys with them to make that worthwhile. (I don't have a smartphone, so have to be on my desktop for all internet stuff, which can be restrictive, I know).

I may start logging in again when I am on my computer, to see how it goes this year.

You beat me to the question.
I've seen Prolific Academic mentioned a few times on the site, but not dipped my toes in.
I'm guessing the answer is yes based on 119 pages of this thread, but is it worth getting involved?

Hi, @InItForTheMoney :) It is worth giving it a go at least to see if it is for you. It all depends on your demongraphics as to how many surveys you get offered, and it is best to have something like the 'visual ping' alert as the surveys can go in seconds (especially the higher value ones).

Out of all the surveys, these tend to be the most interesting and fun to do. If you don't try, you will never know!

I haven't bothered with surveys for years..

If I have 90mins spare one evenings I want to use that 90smins to earn the most that I can and getting paid pence to do a survey isn't going to do that

Why do surveys when you can do Mystery Shopping
Why do Mystery Shopping when you can do Smartphone task apps
Why do Smartphone task apps when you can do uTest
Why do UTest when you can do Web Search Evaluator Work
Why do Web Search Evaluator work when you can do Matched Betting
Why do Matched Betting when you can work on content to create a passive income from your blog(s)
etc..

A lot of mystery shopping is not online stuff, or there are no suitable shops nearby
Why do Mystery Shopping when you can do Smartphone task apps
I don't have a smartphone, and cannot get out much to do the popular tasks
Why do Smartphone task apps when you can do uTest
I admit I have not tried this but know it would be too technical and mind-boggling for me
Why do UTest when you can do Web Search Evaluator Work
I keep trying - especially with Appen - but no success yet
Why do Web Search Evaluator work when you can do Matched Betting
Again, I am trying to get into this more, especially as it is tax-free
Why do Matched Betting when you can work on content to create a passive income from your blog(s)
I cannot think of anything I am good enough at to do and not sure I would have the patience/inspiration etc to do this regularly
etc..

I do hear you @Jon, which is why I am trying to get into Appen/Leapforce etc and try MB'ing again.

Although I quite like these surveys (apart from the odd "what were they actually on when they wrote this" ones) I do find myself checking the site far to often to see if anything is available.

Set up a Distill monitor or similar on the page then you can just leave it running up the corner and wait for it to ping a change. Don't forget a lot of these are screened against your profile so you never see them, eg ones they only want men or women to answer

Mine does it sometimes when it looks like it logging in but it hasn’t actually logged me in. Could it be that?

If not it’s worth popping them a message, I’m told they’re always quite quick to respond

Yeah for some bizarre reason the first Prolific login page when visiting the URL just redirects me to the studies page where I have to login yet again, where you typically see all available studies rather than the ones that are available to you based on your profile.

I've been getting the log-in issue for a while now (where you log-in, it looks to be loading, only for the log-in to reappear) so I think it's a tech glitch on their part.

Semester 2 doesn't start until next week for most universities (I work at one), so it should start picking up in a couple of weeks.
