If you are looking to switch mobile providers have a look at new provider Smarty. They are part of the "3" mobile network and give you money back for any data that you don't use each month, meaning that your monthly spend could be as little as £5 a month. You get unlimited calls and texts whichever plan you sign up to. No contract, just pay every 30 days similar to pay as you go. Keep your number or opt for a new one when signing up. Roaming should be available from June 2018 so you can use your phone abroad too.
If you'd like to give Smarty a try you can get a month for FREE using the link below

If you're interested and would like to get a FREE month and find out more, check out Smarty using this link - we will both get a free month if you decide to order a sim.

Not quite sure who they are going after with this brand as once I add in data this is actually more expensive then what I already pay in 3!

I suppose it depends what network you're already on and what deal you're getting and whether or not you want to be in 12 month sim only contract or a 24 month one with a handset.

I have an EE 12 month sim only that's £19 a month for unltd mins/texts and 10GB of data. I barely use more than 4 so that's 6GB sort of wasted. I've got a couple of months left before the 12 month sim ends so am trying out this Smarty because if i pay £15 for 8GB and only use 4 my next month's bill would only be £10 and still with untd mins/text, if the following month I only used 3GB then my bill would only be £7.50 and so on so it can go anywhere between £5 and £15 a month rather than always £19 as it is now. And also you are not tied in to a 12 month contract and are free to go elsewhere after 30 days if you find it's not for you. The referral thing too can also help to make a few of the months essentially free so in some ways it is a good deal. :)

I'll look into this when my o2 contract runs out in July. Unusual for me to go over 4GB of data so I should save from it.

By the way, at what point did it become industry standard to refer to unlimited text and data as "all you can eat"? That just sounds stupid.

All you can eat belongs with the breakfast bar at Holiday Inn. Not mobile phone data.

100% agree here!

Unlimited text literally means nothing to me anyway since 99% of my texts are sent via iMessage or Skype or whatever.

I remember then the mobile companies used to come after you with deals about 'Free OFF PEAK MINUTES' as if it was cheaper to use the network after 6pm for some reason or another. What a con!!

SMARTY is owned and run by the same company who own Three, therefore it’s the same great signal. It is cheaper than Three, and there is no Indian call centre to deal with.

This referral gives you the second month free of charge. http://referme.to/2mDgkso

I couldn’t find any other SIM only deal offering unlimited minutes, unlimited texts [including MMS] from £5 per month. Took three days from ordering the SIM to it arriving and my number successfully porting over. Very happy, especially with the free month I gained on signup.

That's why I joined too because couldn't find any other offer that matched it for my needs. I need unlimited/or a fair few minutes for calls as we only have weekend calls on our landline and I need to make calls to normal phone numbers as not all family and friends use messenger/facetime etc. Smarty is quick to order and set up. You can even request PAC on line too if you decide to leave SMARTY unlike other networks that make you call them and try to tempt you to stay.
Just hope they do bring in the roaming service in June as they seem to indicate as I think that'll make a difference to people signing up.

As the initial post I started mentioned please use the link below and it will give you a free month (2nd month)

Nothing to lose in giving it a try as it's no contract and queries can be dealt with via online cheat or email rather than having to phone.

Please use the below link to get started:

I have joined this network as so far so good. It is in my daughters first phone. I am happy with the allowances and price. I would be grateful of anyone using my referral to help my daughter. You get your second month free and my daughter will get a free month too.

Hi,

I've just moved to SMARTY a sim-only mobile contract which runs on the 3 network. I've been an O2 customer all my life, so it was a big decision for me to move, but it has been a simple and responsive process to date.

At the moment they are offering a free month for you and me if you go through my link https://referme.to/0FbM1eo and also offering you a £10 amazon voucher.

The contracts are 30 day only, but you can auto renew. All contracts have unlimited UK texts and minutes and then the price of the data changes your cost:
1GB - £6.25
2GB - £7.50
4GB - £10
8GB - £15
Unlimited - £25

Also, for every full GB you do not use they reimburse you £1.25 the following month.

Worth taking a look at if you are thinking of changing providers.

I may be wrong those prices seem pretty much on the money the same as Three. I would have thought as a sim only outlet they would be undercutting Three by quite a bit in the same way Genie Mobile used to as they were part of O2.

I think it depends as I've done a fair bit of research recently as to the price of tariff after experiencing poor customer service from O2.

I've just looked on 3 webiste and I can't see a similar price plan on the 3 website for my usage (I've gone for the 2GB plan) they are a lot more expensive. I can however see a cheaper plan if you want unlimited data. Therefore, looks like horses for courses.

For me though providing the reception is there (which currently appears to be just as good as O2) I get a month free and a £10 amazon voucher just for signing up. I'm only tied into a 30 day contract, and if I am not happy or can find a better deal I can always move and still make a minimal profit (It's pretty quick and easy and I would have invested the time anyway as I wasn't happy with my current provider.)

In terms of undercutting main providers I do think with tariffs being cheaper than ever and costs growing it's getting harder and harder for companies to do this by the same margins as it used to be. Like if you draw parallels with the energy markets look at all the companies that have gone bust...I think this might another market where there is race to the bottom.

Tarrifs getting cheaper?? Are you forgetting that 1gb data is £10 from most companies and 3 unlimited data is £35. It used to be £15 a year ago. And now giffgaff stopped doing unlimited data too.

Ahh sorry to hear that. You get the free month the second month I should have made that clear.

In regards to your previous points data is where they phone companies their money yes, so if you are a high data user I can appreciate the cost is expensive, but data usage is a lot later entrant when you look at the life span of mobile phone contracts and I was referring to text and calls too. My phone contract has decreased considerably over the last few years, and I have never paid £10 for 1GB of data, even on my old contract I got double this without having to move supplier.

But i remember years ago when tarrifs were cgeaper. I guess unlimited calls and texts could be useful but In my situation, i only call maybe for half an hour a month.. orolly cos i never have credit anyway.

ALL the money is in data these days for mobile networkers.

No one cares about 'unlimited texts' because they mostly message through iMessage / whatsapp / facebook messenger etc

I'm all about data anyway because I use my phone as a hotspot when I work out of the house so absolutely plough through which is why I'm happy with £18 for unlimited data with Three deal. If another company offered the same for less I would more than likely move!!

Recently joined Smarty & I'm pretty sure their refer a friend t&cs say you can only refer your actual real life family & friends not people off the internet unlike giffgaff (your referral gets your real name too)

Smarty is owned by Three (or Three's parent company) and it's £25 for unlimited data.
