Hi all,

I've just come across this website recently and it looks great and hopefully you can give us some advice. I've been working abroad up until a few weeks ago and after arriving home and settling back into UK life, I've been looking for work. As of yet there's not much work around where I live and with a few openings I expected to happen have gotten nowhere. So, I've found this website when looking for ways to earn money from home, legitimately of course.

Previously I have done matched betting and exercised most sign-up offers (I used to be a bit of a normal gambler a few years ago) and a few of my accounts got gubbed and I just grew tired of it tbh. Therefore I was wanting to know what other good opportunities they are online. I have a high quality laptop, good broadband and plenty of time on my hands atm so any advice would be grand!

It all seems a bit 'too good to be true' that you can earn from home online, seen as though many websites are scams or 5p survey things. Does anybody here genuinely earn around £1000 a month or maybe a little less?

I want to aim to earn as much as possible without matched betting. Ideally around £700 a month bare minimum. I'm in a fortunate position of not having many outgoings atm, no car, kids etc. So I can be as committed to this as possible.

Anyway thanks for your time and any advice you can give, I look forward to getting involved in this community!

Ron.

I personally don't earn anywhere near that much, but I am extremely time poor... Others on this forum do and plenty earn without matched betting. Check out this thread: https://www.themoneyshed.co.uk/inde...er-£300-a-month-without-matched-betting.8851/

Also, look into leapforce, lionbridge utest, usertesting, whatusersdo, lots of mystery shopping going (I don't do this, but lots of others on here do and can direct you) and the usual app tasks (roamler, BeMyEye, Clic and Walk, Streetspotr for a start). If you are dedicated, I believe these should get you over £700 a month. It could take you a bit to set up though and figure out the best way to use all these sites etc - and of course people on here will help you out if you have questions.

For slightly longer term think tshirt designing and blogging.

Hi Ron

Lots earn £1000+ a month on here. Just look at the August earnings challenge thread to see for yourself!

Ok so you want £700+ a month without matched betting so I would say you want to do

Web search evaluator work £600+ a month
Smartphone task apps (bemyeye, Roamler etc) £200 a month
Traditional mystery shopping £50-£100 a month
Utest / whatusersdo £100 a month

So that takes you easily over the finish line. As said above start blogging, the earning potential is limitless so it’s HUGE earner once you get your site to a decent level and get on the affiliate earning gravy train..

Thank you both for the helpful replies. How do all these work exactly? (sorry for sounding daft)
Are there specific Web search evaluator sites?
Smarthphone task apps?
What exactly do you do, what is the work?

The smartphone apps are tasks, so for example, you can go to the place on the app and then take photos of shelving, products etc and answer questions. They are often counting products or relating to specific displays available in the shop. Generally you end up taking a fair few photos and answering some questions. The trick is to bundle as many together as possible where the locations are close to each other and so limit your petrol/travel. They are pretty easy, but you have to read the instructions carefully.

Web search evaluator I have never done so will leave to someone else.

utest I am just starting on and is testing websites etc to find bugs and then typing up reports. I believe you have a first test case to "pass" before you then get the jobs to accept from the site. There is definitely an initial learning curve, but worth the effort.

Whatusersdo and user testing is often doing a couple of simple tasks online. You will get questions (e.g. go to X.com and find a birthday present for someone and put it in your basket). Your screen is recorded and your voice and you describe what you are doing as you go along. They are generally wanting your feedback on how easy the site is to use and find what you want. They are about £7-£10 for each 20 min test. I quite like these ones and again are pretty easy.

Hi, Thanks for directing us once again.

I've applied for a job on LionBridge which sounds like it suits me down to the ground as I'm a bit of as Geography master. It's called an Online Mapping Analyst , oh and btw I love maps. I've just received a confirmation email and it says it can take up to two weeks to get a response so I just wondered does anybody here work for them? I really hope I get it! I may possibly have to do a test first, but not so sure.

I may apply for the Crowdsourcing job at Appen, anybody done this before or currently doing it?

As for other things, I've signed up to Prolific but my application is on hold for a few days it says. It says my account will unlock faster with phone verification which I've done but no idea how long it will take to be approved. Time to download some smartphone task apps I think!

Hope everyone is having a good day, Ron.

Hi Ron, where did you find that one? I can't see anything for the UK.

Hi Ginny,

Just on the link for LionBridge provided on the toolkit forum. I clicked on it and it was just there on the main page. It said apply for Map Analyst in the United Kingdom, or something like that.

Hi, I've not heard of utest before. I am interested in signing up. Would you like to refer me?

They actually don't have a referral scheme, but thanks for thinking of me :) Just go ahead and take a look (https://www.utest.com/). I just submitted my first test case and have my fingers crossed that I pass and can start earning!

Do you need much of a technical background?

I just signed up for their academy and went through the Powerpoint and it all seems incredibly technical

No you don’t need a technical background. It requires a bit of reading up to understand what exactly they want you to do and how to report it, but it should be easier once you get the hang of it. Lots of the bugs you are looking for are things such as the links not working on a website which anyone can check.

Reselling works well for me. Basically buying stuff cheap from charity shops and car boots and selling it for a profit through sites like ebay, facebook marketplace etc. Started off with £50 worth of stock and now have a few thousand pounds worth all from my original £50 investment. I'll be writing a guide to reselling soon when I have some time...

That sounds interesting @Andrew what was your initial “stock”?

Hi,

I earn between £800-1000 each month on top of my full time job, without matched betting. It isn’t easy and I do some very long days but if you can put the time and effort in it is totally achievable.

I earn most of it audio typing, mostly for Take Note and Crowdsurf.
I do website tests for usertesting and what users do
I use roamler, streetspotr, streetbees, be my eye, shoppix, receipt hog, curious car, citizen me and vypr apps on my phone
I do traditional mystery shopping for market force, retail, active, tern, Amber arch and grass roots
I blog
I do surveys but I stick to the higher paying ones so populus, prolific and as I like the daily poll branded surveys
I do a bit of selling on ebay
I pick up odd bits of freelance writing on sites like freelancer, Iwriter and people per hour

I couldn’t earn a full time wage on one alone but I can easily do it when I combine everything. I guess it all depends where you live for the apps and mystery shopping. I’m lucky that there aren’t many users of any of the apps near me , or mystery shoppers.
