Ive been onto them for support about a couple of things today and they have been AMAZING..
If you're thinking of starting a blog, I recommend

I've just had my renewal from TSO Hosts (or whoever they are).

£131 for their starter plan with 3 year hosting for a .co.uk name for a year.

Based on this, I think Hostpresto might be nearly a 3rd cheaper. It also allows me to host upto 6 website.

Not sure about the '2x CPU / 2X Memory' as that is a very strange way of saying 'dual core' processor and then I've no idea what they mean about the memory? :D

In fairness, its for 3 years.

The hostpresto is £30 a year (£25+20%%VAT) so £90 for 3 years. So they are only £10 a year more expensive that HostPresto so isn't that bad for cost, I've just found since they got bought the quality has been lacking and had plenty of downtime with no warning.

Yeah you will have. TSO is overloaded on their cloud sharing platform so when another site that sites in the same area of the server as yours spikes in traffic it will effect your site.

Stack em high and sell am cheap!

I was with TSO a few years ago with a different blog. They were OK at first but after a while the support was very hit and miss. For someone like me with notechnical knowledge at all the support was more important. I can recall more than a few times when my TSO query was answered in jargon and I had to reply and wait ages for them to explain.

Aye support can be EVERYTHING when you have problems and you need to get your website back up and running because it's losing you £ per minute!

Hi
I am starting a blog this year but I'm not vey techy. I have read the info on Totally Blogging and a couple of books but struggle to get my head around it. I'm thinking I might just jump in and start and work it out as I go along (worked for matched betting!) I just wondered how any of the other new bloggers were getting on? I was going to go through Host presto

I think you've 100% got the right attitude.

Jumping in and learning by doing is the best thing to do as you can get hands-on with things and tweak and play around!

Wordpress is the same no matter which hosting company you use so there is a whole wealth of information out there about how to get the most out of it so you'll be absolutely fine ;)

Cheers Jon. I've been looking at the Hostpresto site and I see the business package comes with free domain whereas the personal ones don't. I've just checked and the domain name I want would be £10 a year so probably works out better to go with a business package and get it free or are you restricted to what domain names you can get for that?

I have put my first post up but some of the technical stuff is taking a little while. I haven't put any social media links yet as I don't have twitter/Instagram so have to learn to use that too! This is just my basic page and first post. I'm also struggling with tags, categories and the like so have ordered a book on wordpress to help me out. Once it starts to come together I will look at how I can monetise it then

www.greenfamilyproject.com

If you have a look, can you tell me if you can see my 'About; page? It is the website plus /about but I can't see a link on the actual site to it.

Cheers!

Can't see it but that's because you don't appear to have any kind of menu on your site

No I don't see it either, but well done for biting the bullet. I'm still sitting her procrastinating about doing one! I should maybe just get my finger out and go for it too :)

What is it that's actually stopping you?

It's not like you can break anything or cause any damage lol

LOL I don't know! Possibly the idea of actually having to come up with content scares me a little, or maybe the fact that I'm not sure anyone would be interested in what I have to say? Add on to that I'm not sure of how to make it look nice. Hmm take your pick :D

You'd make it look nice by using one of the thousands of FREE (or even Paid) themes for Wordpress - so that's a non-issue ;)

Coming up with content, well choose a topic you are passionate or know a lot about and you'll be fine!

Would anyone be interested? You are thinking too 'personally'.

If you write a blog post about i dunno, 'painting your living room pink'
Google Indexes it
A random person searches for 'living room pink' or 'what colour should I paint my living room?' and finds your blog post

Google is how most people will find your site and it will come about by extremely random searches!
