Hi
I'm having a few technical problems with my blog. I am hosted by host presto and the SSL icon on the cpanel indicates that I have a SSL certificate. However, when you go the site it comes up with messages saying the site is not secure. I have contacted host presto and they have said this is a self signed SSL. A standard SSL certificate is £30. Is this worth getting? I am not selling anything on my blog but it must be very off putting for my 3 visitors to have this pop up..

You don't need a standard SSL

I've walked you through setting up the SSL (which it appears it already is!) soo all you need to is install the plugin mentioned at the bottom of this page and you should be good to go!

I did do this and got this message:

'Really Simple SSL failed to detect a valid SSL certificate. If you do have an SSL certificate, try to reload this page over https by clicking this button: '

Not sure if this is because I have already installed the self signed one as this is flagging up that it will cause the 'not secure' message. Should I uninstall?

cheers, Sarah

Can you show me a screengrab of what you see when you go into Cpanel > SSL/TLS > Certificate List

I'm really sorry, I'm not much use with this type of thing but sounds like Jon is on the case!

haha, an easy to way to screengrab is press the screenshot button on your keyboard and go to snag.gy and upload it to there and just click the 'image' icon on here and you can link to it!

Anyway so yeah your SSL is installed so not sure why the plugin is complaining.

Try search for this one in Addons in your wordpress dashboard
