Necessary Start-up Capital?

Having previously dabbled a few years ago I want to take up matched betting a bit more seriously. The tools available now seem to make it a lot easier than even it was 3 or 4 years ago; I intend to sign up to either oddsmonkey or profitaccumulator (which one!?) from the get go; as it seems worth it in the medium run, let alone the long run!

Currently need to get my laptop fixed so will probably start in earnest then.

My question now is how much capital do I need to get started in a fairly serious way? As in, if I want to take up the majority of available bonus bets how much will I need to deposit across bookies/betfair?

Thanks!

Whatever you can afford I suppose is the answer.

I only started with £60 and have never put anymore of my own money in and have made now over £40,000 from Matched Betting. https://blog.themoneyshed.co.uk/risk-free-matched-betting-make-30000/

All you need is a bit of luck at the start so you win into the exchange and you should be good to go with no need to but in any extra cash!

I suppose that is the only element of luck in MB - if you have to keep topping up your exchange account when your bets keep winning!!

I was thinking I wanted to keep initial investment to £200 or under so sounds pretty achievable from your post; even if I try to take on a few sign up offers at once!

Another question - when using the the green site MB forums way back when many advocated using skrill or similar to keep all the bookie stuff off your bank account - I see no one here chatting this stuff so is that all a bit OTT?

Fwiw, I started out with about £100 as my 'bank'. I've never used Skrill or Neteller. There are some offers which you can't do if you deposit with either of them, so it make sense to use your debit card.

Yeah I ended up putting £100 in betfair and I've put £35 in total into other bookies. Will probably just withdraw a bit from somewhere for the next sign up - hopefully betfair if I'm up there still after this weekends football.

I'm about £40+ up even after taking off the 15 quid for odssmonkey which is due in a few days. :)

Try to withdraw from the bookies at first if you can and keep your betfair balance, you'll need it. Especially with Cheltenham looming.

true but isnt doing the bonus offer, winning off the free bets and withdrawing shortly after likely to get you gubbed?

If you were a regular punter and you won money at the bookie you would more than likely withdraw it ;)

Probably true! Think I'll just make sure I've made at least one mug bet on an account before withdrawing

It doesn't necessarily matter if you withdraw from a bookies, this isn't likely to be the main determining factor in a gubbing.

I know people that work in bookies. Taking loads of value and smashing the horses will get you gubbed.

I have literally placed my first bets today.

In total I've deposited £105. (£5 to get my qualifying free bets and £100 to cover the lay bet liabilities). I should get around £16 profit. I'm now stuck for a few days until my bets have played out before I can go on to the other offers on PA....but I'll have gone past the offer window and will need to pay for membership!

I guess Sunday night isn't the best time to start :D:rolleyes:

It can be slow at first, but stick with it...believe me the earnings in the long term will make it worth your while...
