Hi, just started MB. Current state of play is that I have £30 free bets in my Betfred account, and about £54 liability at Betfair.

I'm hoping to place my first proper bet on a footie match tonight but I'm not sure about Oddsmonkey's Oddsmatcher ratings

Chelsea vs Kiev is highest rated (only Betfred and Betfair selected) at 98.01 but the calculator shows a £6.78 profit for a £30 bet. On the other hand, Villareal vs Zenit is lower at 95.89, but £15.38 profit for a £30 bet.

It's possible I'm really misunderstanding all this, so a few pointers would be much appreciated!

It sounds like you're looking at really low odds, you ideally want to find odds of above about 5.0 for your free bet to maximise profit, you can set the filter on Oddsmonkey to search for back odds for no less than 5.0. You should ideally be looking around the £24 mark profit from a £30 free bet. :)

Yeah that isn't right. Have you set the calculator to SNR?

Can you tell me the back odds and the lay odds for this bet.

The chelsea vs kiev one is:

back - betfred 1.3
lay - betfair 1.31

rating 98.01%

I've definitely selected FREE BET (SNR). Shows £6.58 profit for a £30 free bet.

those odds are too low

You need to be looking at around 4.0-6.0 odds for your free bet

Thanks for replying Jon and Missy.

I have only have £54 in liability and most of the bets with odds 4.0+ seem to require more than that.

I'm selling some stuff on ebay and in about 10 days I should have at least £200 to play with, but the Betfred free bets only have another six days before they're invalid.

Is the best option to look for bets in the 3.0 odds range and use the liability I have now?

Aye you should be extracting around 80% from free bets so yeah you need to be doing higher odds, if you can't afford the liability then it might be an idea to put some more money in and hope your free bet ends up winning at the exchange

Sounds like you need to sort by SNR% rather than match%. Look for an SNR% of at least 75%; this will return £7.50 per £10 free bet.

To Castro:

For some reason I can't see that option on the Oddsmatcher, although at some point during the tutorials I'm sure I saw it. I've attached a screenshot of what it currently looks like.

@danelectric You need to click on the settings tab, then tick the box that says "Show Stake Not Returned Column", then you can sort by Stake Not Returned. I've added a pic to show you.527

There is an easier way to see the SNR ratings on the OM oddsmatcher now,

Click on the 'SNR (%) - circled in red in the screenshot below.
it will now bring the highest snr ratings to the top, for you to see which are the best options for your free bet.

Don't forget to click on the 'Rating (%)' on the left of it afterwards, to bring it back to your highest ratings for your normal bets, as it tends to keep it on the SNR rating otherwise.

In time you will be able to tell which columns are displaying the highest ratings.

A word of warning TO EVERYBODY, before placing your bets, double-check that the actual bookie odds and exchange odds are the same as displayed on the Oddsmatcher - THIS IS NOT ALWAYS THE CASE, and a bone of contention with me at present.
