I'm just waiting for my parents and my boyfriend mum to send me all their previous addresses and an idea of bank accounts they've had in the past so I can do it for them. I'm planning to go through resolver on their behalf (with permission) and my parents are giving me 20% and my boyfriends mum will give him 20% so hopefully, between us we'll all be quids in for a few hours work on my part. Although I do have to keep bugging them to get me the information!

I've noticed some of the PPI companies have moved onto chasing losses from investment products now.

Well I got an email out of the blue this afternoon saying that my 'issue/complaint' had now been assigned to someone to deal with. That's about 3 weeks after I sent the documents to them that they asked for... Not in any hurry are these financial companies lol

Well they've come back to me with evidence that it wasn't missold which I'm not buying so i've just wasted another hour of my day filling in the online form to go to the financial ombudsman and uploading a ton of scans for evidence.

Anyone know how long THEY take to look into this sort of stuff?

The financial ombudsman has sent me some MORE forms to fill in!

I can’t believe in 2019 I am having to do so much form filling by hand! How is this not all done electronically?!??!?!

and........

another letter from the Financial Ombudsman today!

They have thanked us for the 600000 forms we've sent them and they are now going to contact our mortgage protection company to investigate

The amount of manual form filling all this has required in 2019 is SHOCKING!!

Anyone have recommendations for doing PPI claims? (I think I saw an earlier post someone mentioned there was one that takes no percentage?)
I won’t have any as I have only lived in the UK just under 3 years... but my partner potentially could. He doesn’t seem to think it’s worth the hassle but I’m hoping some of these posts will convince him to at least try

I spectacularly left everything until around 10pm deadline day because I am that disorganised! However one positive result so far, a £1500 refund from Halifax for my boyfriends mum. Fingers crossed its the start of many more refunds for the family.

I was convinced we had never taken out PPI but decided to check all the old credit card/store card paperwork that my wife had kept for way too long. I stopped moaning about her OTT retention policies when we ended up getting 3 claims through successfully for about £3.5k. An absolute doddle to do yourself (I used a template available online), especially if you have the statements etc.

Wow, that's an amazing result!

I honestly can't believe how long it's taking for the financial ombudsman to deal with my complaint!

Thanks Jon - I was amazed too :)

The biggest thing I learnt though was to keep well clear of the PPI claim firms - we tried to use one and it took much more work than doing it ourself did and resulted in a far poorer (literally) result.

That'll be my approach again for any similar issues in the future.

It wasn't the claims guys was it?

They used to send me like 20 forms at a time and their solution to me not sending back the forms was to then send me even more blank forms to fill in lol

I can't be sure to be honest Jon but I remember the ad went something like 'contact us and we will find out if you have ever had PPI' but the reality was 'can you send us copies of all the statements from every credit card you think you may have had PPI on and we'll take it from there'.

We decided to go DIY!

Well I got my decision (via email no less!) from the ombudsmen

And they have not sided with me so no PPI funded Christmas at Money Shed Towers!!

Oh well, nothing ventured nothing gained I guess!
