Hi guys,
I've uploaded some new feature images to matchedbettingzest.com (done 10 so far).

Looking for some honest feedback please folks...would I be ok with this new design style?...or better off using real-life sporting themed images with text overlay?

Thanks in advance :)

Which pages have the featured images as I can't see them

I would also think about changing your topbar menu. Maybe have dropdowns for Guides and Reviews instead of making me click on them and THEN onto the page I want after that

on the blog page

images look fine to me

You are gonna hate me but is there a reason these are 'blog posts'. To me they look like very well written guides and should perhaps just be 'Pages' in wordpress without comments being enabled etc..

I know you mentioned about starting a new website, are you going to cypher half the content on Zest to the new site?

thanks for feedback.

the reason i put them as blog posts - is say offer for rugby WC and other sporting events is recent content as opposed to evergreen content.

i used to have blog posts on front page, but got advised to include a homepage - and put posts on a separate blog page.

not sure on future direction at the moment, struggling with lack of time!

Yeah, that lack of time thing can be a real struggle. You'll have to remind me but are you still in employment as well at the moment? If so finding time to do anything beyond the simplest of tweaks on websites can be a huge chore I always found lol

yes, i'm in full-time work.

I can't think how to put SO MANY pages in a drop down off the main menu - without completely changing the layout again!

You would need to maybe take your top 10 and just do those like my “top money making posts” etc on TMS blog - I’ve chosen a mixture of high traffic ones and high affiliate potential ones

Aye. I've tried the drop-down from the menu, but it doesn't give the little arrow to indicate there's a dropdown menu.

1 last question tonight: what's your thoughts on having a homepage as the frontpage vs. blog posts on frontpage for a site like mine?

For a site like yours I would have the site as a PROPER website (ie, not a blog). Same as I did with TotallyBlogging and CompareTheMatchedBetting.

Good advice. I'm envisioning a slight re-design to incorporate drop down links from the menu.
Was thinking of something like:

Home

Start here
- What is MB?
- B.exchange guide

Guides (drop down menus)
- beginner
- Advanced
- Football
- Horse racing
- Other sports
- Get organised
- Extras

To make everything easily accessible.

I'd like to retain a blog section though for current offers and sporting events.

Lots of content to incorporate and think about.

yeah that structure makes a LOT more sense. I would remove any 'years' from content as well. Rugby World Cup Guides is far more evergreen then 2019 Rugby World Cup Guides if you get my drift

Silly question: any reason you think a website works better than a blog style site for my site? (and can I still incorporate a blog page within that)

I think a site like yours has quite static content compared to blog which tends to be a more reactionary platform

What would you like the blog to offer that the main website wouldn't?
If it's views/opinions/hot takes could that maybe be transferred to social media instead to drive traffic?

Good point. I'd like to retain a blog page for ongoing offers/promotions that come up like Cheltenham festival - and specific content for those events rather than a generic 'how to do Cheltenham xyz' page.

Good idea about using social media. Need to up my game in that area.

I'm also struggling with potential layout for a pages-only site.

Gonna draft a few ideas now.

layout look ace. You could maybe do some with images on those guides (or just more images generally) either from stock free websites like https://pixabay.com or use Canva
