Not VAR - just the idiotic referees running it. They are not going to say that their friends have made a mistake unless they really have to.

I have to say I hate the way the Premier League have implemented VAR too though. It's slowing the game down far to much for relatively often unnecessarily reasons imo.

Me again with another MB question lol. This one is about commissions-when i win on betfair, and it says i've won, eg £8.17. Is that actually what i have won or is that prior to the 5% (and now 2% due to my choice of reward) being taken off? I only ask as i have been assuming that is actually what i have won and recorded it as so on my spreadsheets. However, having just done a few bets with smarkets i can see that, for example, my lay stake is £7.76 and the bet won, so my money in is actually 7.60 (16p taken off for commission).

Have i been recording my betfair profits incorrectly and now have to go back and take 5% off them all?

thanks :)

**edited to add i've just gone into my betfair statement and found all the commissions coming off-so i'm assuming i just need to deduct this from my input profit and thats me up to date? and then going forward i can just deduct 2% from what it says my profit is and record that?

**edited again to ask if this sounds right-if i place a QB of £20.00 and exchanges wins at £18.11. That is a QL of 1.89. However, commission deduction on this exchange win was 0.91 so does that mean my QL for this bet is actually £2.80?

thanks

@Autumn500, your figures are spot on. 5% commission at Betfair is bit steep though. It will eat in to your overall profits.

thank you for the reply. I have moved onto 2% at Betfair so it should be better, and i will try and take advantage of some of the 0% offers so hopefully it rectifies things a bit!

Also, try not to take rubbish lay odds if there's a gap in liquidity, as backers try to hoover up good prices from unsuspecting layers.

Was this advice in reference to something in my post or just general advice as I didn’t quite understand?

I’m coming to the end of the signup offers I can do on PA before reloads. Despite having done a lot of offers in 2016 when I first started matched betting I’m still nearly 200 pounds in profit after 3 weeks so happy with that. Would people say it’s easier or harder to make money on reloads v signups. Would earning 300 pound a month through matched betting take a considerable amount of effort?

You've come to the end of all the sign up offers and only made £300?

I say coming to the end but just checked and I have 26 left to do lol plus 15 that I couldn’t do as I’ve done them before

Edit to say that 300 pound is a target of what I would like to make going forward each month to supplement my wages when I reduce hours following maternity leave

Then yes you can make £300 from reloads alone each month :)

It depends if you have a full set of ungubbed accounts to use. If so, £300pcm should be achievable.

With reference to my lay betting comment. I mean in general you'll often see a worse lay price on Smarkets compared to Betfair - due to Smarkets 0% commission through PA/OM. Matched betttors will often just accept a poor lay price. The people on the back side are taking these odds at better prices than they should get from unsuspecting lay bettors. Just something to be aware of.

Sorry another question. If there is an offer that if you bet £10 on a match and IF 1 of the teams loses you get a free £5 bet, is that going to be a calculator to use to get a definite profit or is it just hoping that the result goes the right way. Thanks

OM has a risk free equal profit calculator which allows you to lock in a guaranteed profit, I use that in the circumstances you outline above. Bet Victor have often offered me something similar to the above.
