Hi everyone, my first post here!
I've been using Gener8 for a few months. I haven't used the affiliate feature yet - I've shared it on social media once, but didn't want to spam it out.
Couple of the questions that people have asked are in their FAQ's. They're asking users to refer to get on the marketplace to generate a userbase. The argument is, once enough people are using the platform, then the advertisers will have to take notice of them as an alternative, which gives them more leverage ('we have 250,000 users on our platform, which you can advertise to directly through us). So it's a growth thing, I think. Advertisers won't really care about 10,000 users who are on Gener8's ad blocker instead of others like Adblock.
I'm also sceptical to a degree, but figured I was using Adblock previously, so it's just a different method that *might* also turn into passive income as well if it takes off. In the meantime, it just sits on my bar, blocking ads and slowly accuring tokens, so I'm happy enough with that.
One thing is for certain - the model of obtaining people's data for targeted marketing isn't going to go away. GDPR only covers personally identifiable information. It doesn't cover device identification. To an advertiser, that's just as valuable; when you're online, your cookies are basically you. Intelligent targeted marketing is only going to get bigger. I don't think that's a bad thing - I'm not an MI5 agent, or a huge celebrity, so I'm not really that bothered about how much companies know about me if the main purpose is to tell me about things I'm more likely to buy, instead of ads aimed at my demographic.
