Worst Cheltenham ever for me. Might have scraped £50 over the 4 days all tolled.
I managed to get £160. Would have got a lot more if I was doing BF and B365 refunds, but gubbed with the first and not doing horses on the 2nd.

£195 for me from my first Cheltenham (and first real foray into betting on horses too) so I'm happy with that. Not sure what I'm going to do now without football for a few weeks though!

I was constant 9-5 it really has blown my mind but I’m really pleased. I have the bug now so will make sure I’m ready every year now.

Lack of B365 or Karamba offers affected this a lot for me. So many of the other offers were either of less value or not on at all. I was in the region of 500 up last year. I'm counting my profit this year at £257. I'm counting all MB placed since the festival started.

So much of that came from:
1) Some flukey free spin wins.
2)Football offers from Wednesday
3)A jockey toppling off his horse very unexpectedly.

This year was much more hit and hope (for refunds) rather than straight forward bet X get X. I'm not complaining as it's still a decent profit and I think the best we can hope for in the next month is free spins from the bookies to keep us interested in the absence of sport.

I hit the shops again this year, was not bad at all:

Betfred had two boosts at both 1030-1100 and 1200-1230 each day, plus extra place races.

Hills had bet £20 over the counter from 1530-1700 hrs for £10 SNR the next day on SSBTs.

Paddy had three Super Enhancements between 1100-1200 hrs each day.

Ladbrokes had refund if 2nd on the 1.30 and 3.30 each day.

So, plenty of profit potential right there, plus extra place races at most shops, plus free tea/coffee and biscuits.

William Hill's response:

St Helens cruised to a 32-0 win over Toronto Wolfpack last time out and have won their last six Super League meetings with Castleford. Will they rack up the points today?*

Are you backing Beşiktaş to score in both halves of this Istanbul derby? They've scored more than one goal in five of their last six Süper Lig matches.*

There's even more football later today with four games in the Copa de la Superliga in Argentina. And you can get 18/1 on all eight teams to score. Racing Club – who face Aldosivi – have scored in their last 11 matches in all comps.*

I believe they have a big pot of straws they can clutch at if required

I don't track profit anymore, can't be bothered lol, but at a guess at least £100 from shop boosts across the 4 days, plus made profit from extra places, Grosvenor Sports boosts, and a few small mug punts.

So, as a new match better, this will be my first year of doing Cheltenham, so I would appreciate as much advice as possible on people's strategies for doing this week. I assume strategies include have as big a float as possible, sign up to as many bookies as possible?.....and any tips on how to avoid being gubbed apart from placing mug bets and arbs.

I would say you need about £2000 bankroll if you want to make the most of it

Apart from that, keep an eye on current reload offers are a lot (like the one mentioned above from betfair) let you get free bets at cheltenham if you place qualifying bets now

Also we'll have Cheltenham preview nights in a week or two which offer odds boosts you can just back/lay and make instant money on

Odds Boost forum threads on Profit Accumulator / OddsMonkey will also give you great ways to make money for simple bets each lunchtime (or from around 10am)

On top of that having access to super quick oddsmatching tools + calculators will see ya straight!

Search for the word 'Cheltenham' here, lots of helpful tips!

@Frugalgal, if you're going to matched bet Cheltenham:
- £2k or more float ideal, but if you match horses in the same race it'll combine exchange liabilities
- Be organised: 7 races per day, know which offers are best value and prioritise
- Wait until Best Odds Guaranteed is available. Some bookies are BOG 9am, others 11am.
- Avoid placing matched bets the evening before a race or early morning on market movers.
- Look out for price boosts/enhanced odds around 9am, 10am, and midday. MB forums should have a thread for these.
- Look out for enhanced signup offers.
