A Shanghai-based friend has been lecturing us all on Facebook to behave, stick to the lockdown, and look forward to being able to get out again in late June/early July (whilst still being careful). I hope they're right, as that's a manageable timescale in terms of not losing my mind.
I can live with that timescale you know

The airline / holiday industry HAS to re-open in June / July or you will see the entire industry go bust from hotels and resorts through to airlines and cruises. They NEED that 'summer holiday' income!

Forget that timescale, apparently, despite yesterday's lockdown, the tube was packed today during rush hour. They need to clamp down on what it means to be a key worker, I think some employers' and people believe it is open to interpretation.

My husband’s employer says he is a key worker, and his Union says he is not. It all needs clarifying ASAP.

Vauxhall finance just rang

They seem to be giving everyone a payment holiday for April, May and June which DOESNT effect your credit score or how much you pay back

That sounds like an amazing company. My son's swimming lesson provider has now deemed that they will charged a holding fee of £15 per month. When all other gyms freeze memberships. Becky Adlington Swimstars should be hanging their heads in shame.

That is awful and taking advantage of parents.

Up until earlier today they were continuing to take the full monthly direct debit amount. I like Rebecca Adlington but she really should get involved more in her company's decision making.

Should have perhaps said they have waived the cancellation notice period but we lose our space etc when things reopen. Tweeted a certain someone to see if he could do something but he's a little busy I guess!

I have an iPhone app that tells me which apps are free for the day. Today there’s an app called Breathing Zone that is free. The app says it’s normally $3.99 and it’s free today. It has good reviews. I haven’t tried it yet but apparently it’s supposed to help with anxiety and panic attacks. Might be free on Android too - I don’t know. Thought I’d mention it as there must be a few people on here that are struggling with anxiety at the moment.

I dont understand that as they would want people back once this is over, there are also grants coming for businesses in April that will help them, their staff should be able to be claimed for through their PAYE scheme or if self employed wait as something is coming.... I do not understand how people react like this....

Complete greed. Their email actually alluded to the fact that they needed the money coming in for the sake of their business. I need to pay for my mortgage over paying for overinflated lessons. My mortgage company will let me take a holiday for payments but they won't.

If anyone is struggling to get out to the supermarkets and cannot get a slot online ( I have tried)... then Muscle Food were doing a deliver tomorrow offer today but have sold out now, but they seem to be still delivering and good value, I buy a lot of meat from them as it is very lean yet good amounts

It is, but everyone is in the same boat and what ever people think, businesses will still be there after this, it will just take some patience, understanding, and support from loyal customers, landlords, suppliers, utilities and banks to get back to where they were, a swim school I would say would be better suited as you would look to try and get your child back swimming over perhaps splurging on a new toy or luxury...!! It is hard times we all know that but making rash decisions is not going to help them.

Been out running this morning and saw NO ONE the entire time and perhaps about 10 people in their cars!

I wonder what they will do after the 3 weeks of this lockdown

my plan would be
do the three weeks
do two more additional weeks
then, if the county hasn't got any new infections coming in they can come out of lockdown

I think this will end up with London becoming the last place to be unlocked but from what the news says it clearly needs more time in lockdown!

I don't think people realise the devastating effect it's having on people relying on respite care. People who were already struggling are now completely isolated.
Nights or weekends away which gave them something to live for have been taken away.
:(

Yeah, they were saying on TV this morning about how for many people this is the first time they have had to be alone / cope on their own etc and how many are actually struggling with it!

The government needs to walk a line which

Keeps the country locked down for too long it destroys the economy and all businesses
keeps everyone safe to stop the spread of the virus
Doesn't last too long or else the knock on effect with be all the mental health care needed AFTER the virus which may well cripple the NHS as well

Some people just won't be able to cope. Being trapped with someone that you are the carer for can quickly become impossible.
If the live-in carer looking after their partner or child ultimately can't cope then there's more people to look after.
It's really difficult but some people are having to make more sacrifices than others.

I'm the carer for my daughter, who is on the government's most vulnerable list. For us, the lock in is at least 12 weeks, not 3, and we can't leave the house at all.
Not for a run, not for food, not for fresh air, not to go to the chemist, not for medical appointments! We aren't even supposed to go into the garden!
We can't get an online shop, because the slots are full, can't get through on the phone to Sainsburys to register that we are vulnerable, so what is in the cupboard is all of the food we have.
We are registered to get food and drug drops from the government. But when will that be? Before or after all of the food and drugs have gone?

where are you based? I have found that the local ASDA to me release slots at night, I booked collection so still may not be suitable but they may have delivery, or perhaps a neighbor can help? Muscle Food seems to be still delivering and do a range of foods and some of the box delivery food services seem to be still delivering.
