The Government said a further 280 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Thursday.

This brings the UK total to 45,955.

Separate figures published by the UK’s statistics agencies for deaths where Covid-19 has been mentioned on the death certificate, together with additional data on deaths that have occurred in recent days, show there have now been 61,000 deaths involving Covid-19 in the UK.

The Government said that, as of 9am on Thursday, there had been a further 23,065 lab-confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK.

It brings the total number of cases in the UK to 965,340.

I think the 61,000 figure is more accurate as it closely matches excess deaths for the year. It seems strange if you catch covid stay at home for a couple of weeks then get admitted to intensive care and spend three weeks on a ventilator it is not counted as a covid death. There must be quite a lot of deaths outside the 28 days cut off.

Looks like local lockdowns may be working!

R number remains above 1 across the UK
The reproduction rate - or R number - remains above one across the UK, meaning that the virus is continuing to spread exponentially.
The latest government figures put the R number at 1.1 to 1.3, which means that on average every 10 people infected will infect between 11 and 13 other people.
Last week the R number was 1.2 to 1.4.
There is a growth rate of between +2% and +4% which means the number of new infections is growing by 2% to 4% every day. Last week this was between +4% and +7%.

In Liverpool we can see figures for each ward and out of 30 wards, at least 26 are showing drops day to day. There are odd days when one or two will go up by a couple but overall the figures are well down.

What ever happens later on I am prepared. At one minute past nine this morning I phoned my hairdresser. Got an appointment on Monday afternoon :). I am not going to look like a yeti has mated with a highland cow ever again ;)

Looks like you can (from Monday) get a 6 month long mortgage holiday or if you already had the 3 months one have an extra 3 months now to take it to 6 overall

Eek I don't want another lock down. I can't see it working. As soon as we get let out the virus will start rising again. It is cat and mouse politics.

My hair has gone full Helena Bonham-Carter DGAF. My eyebrows are confusing and frightening, and I'm making an appointment for a pedicure on 3rd December in hope.
