Wonder what the vaccine numbers will be today, guess we get them with the other stats in an hour or two
1,959,151 people in England have had the first dose of the vaccine to 10 Jan.
It'll be nice to see an update today, to see how many more have had their jabs in the last few days.

I got a text a week or so ago to say where the jab would be and that we would hear from them. That was from our doctors surgery. Then another test a few days later with a link so that you could book the day and time. I would get in touch with someone if she has not heard anything at all.
I've just had that in the past half hour! Thank goodness for that.

We've had figures from this source before and they confuse me every time. I've emailed the newspaper to ask them to explain the numbers, as I'm now thinking 54 other deaths might mean people who died of covid symptoms but never tested positive. Dunno if they will respond.

Edit: they replied quickly but didn't give me the source of where they got the numbers from, just repeated the article. only 54 deaths recorded in hospitals yesterday that were unrelated to Covid. So practically everyone that dies in a hospital now dies of covid, it seems.......

My husband had his jab. He got a letter and then had to go online to book an appointment. He said the whole process was very efficient. He was quite excited to see the inside of the football stadium for the first time in about sixty years. I don't think his doctor was involved.

Booked mum in for Saturday morning at a centre about 3.5 miles away. A bit apprehensive about getting her there in a taxi but it is what it is.

That is what I read it as. I'm going to stop posting it here as it causes nothing but confusion.

I don't think we will ever know the real number of deaths from COVID. This all stinks for me.

From The Times

Ministers are preparing to more than double the vaccination rate to half a million a day next week under plans to dramatically ramp up delivery.

> Confidential government figures which were published by the Scottish government suggest that the government is preparing to vaccinate as many as 3.8 million people next week.

> It would eclipse the 2.6 million people who have received the vaccine over the past five weeks amid reports that Boris Johnson was frustrated by the slow pace of the rollout. The most recent daily vaccination figure was 207,661.

> The figures suggest that the government is on target to deliver on its pledge of vaccinating 15 million of those who are most at risk by February 15. It means that all of the at risk groups could be vaccinated by mid-March.

I said to my wife a few days ago that we need 3-4m vaccinations a week to get on top of this. I hope it can be achieved.

The place we went to was very efficient. I reckon they must get through 25 or more an hour. There was a 10 minute wait outside but then it was sitting for another 10 minutes, 5 minutes in the surgery and 15 minute wait afterwards. Staff were cleaning seats and gelling and changing gloves a lot so it all felt safe.

Covid deaths 'likely' to peak in next 10 days

Coronavirus deaths in the UK are likely to peak in the next week to 10 days, according to a leading statistician.
Professor Sir David Spiegelhalter, of the Statistical Laboratory at Cambridge University, told BBC Radio 4's World at One programme the lockdown measures were having an impact, with the peak in infections having passed "a good few days ago" which would lead to a reduction in the numbers dying from the disease.
"They are likely to level off in a week - 10 days maybe - at a peak which is probably going to be bigger than the first wave peak of 1,000 a day, but then should decline due the reductions in cases that we are seeing and, of course, the vaccine programme," he said.
