Hello,

I am hoping to finalise a purchase of a property, paperwork is getting to the end now.

So I was interested in knowing which energy providers you are with for Gas & Electricity?

What should I be looking out for?

What are you paying monthly?

How has customer service been?

Thanks,
J

I'm with EON. They seem to be ok and easy to reach on the phone if you need to contact them. Managed to get a one year lock in before the prices went up last time.

The days of comparing energy suppliers and switching about for the cheapest deal have more or less gone. Pretty much all of them charge the maximum as allowed by the cost cap now.

Best thing to do is try one of the price comparison sites and look for a 1 year lock in and take the best price you can get.

Monthly direct debit is usually the cheapest way to pay.

If you use Money supermarket comparison through Topcashback you can get some cashback if you sign up for a contract.

Thanks, how much are you paying monthly (roughly) for gas & electricity?

I'm the wrong person to ask. I'm using zero electricity at the moment because my solar panels are supplying everything (apart from occasional bursts from the immersion heater for bath time) hopefully they will keep that up until September/october when days start getting shorter. I'm also not on mains gas so have a LPG boiler and a wood burner for heating

I wonder what the costs of solar panels would be?

I'm with Octopus and have been on a fix since I signed up last April, up til June next year, so when that ends it's going to be a HUGE shock, as our combined DD is £84 per month.

That's not bad the monthly DD - I had a quote from Utility Warehouse for the following;

Gas£78.00
Electricity£77.00

Bulb... which has gone out.. so debating about who to switch to. Still being run by the government as normal.

Yeah, it's not bad at all for now, just dreading the jump as it's gonna be massive when the fix ends since the cap will have changed 3 times since I signed up

It's that jump in October that is going to be tough to swallow. This Government has made it clear they don't want to help in anyway.
