Coronavirus Discussion So.... The Coronavirus / COVID-19

It's a baffling decision. Pretty soon, you won't even be able to ENTER Italy unless you're double-jabbed, let alone do anything when you're there.

Coronavirus Discussion So.... The Coronavirus / COVID-19

I think we're going to have a whopping great bounce over the next couple of weeks with schools, but then - like Scotland - it will settle. It all just depends on how it translates into hospitalisations. I got pinged three times last week after one concert (nothing like overkill), and had...

Coronavirus Discussion So.... The Coronavirus / COVID-19

I think we're going to be stuck here for a while. It's encouraging, though, given most people seem to have decided Covid was 'over' on 19th July. We're nearly a month on from that, and cases haven't really gone up by very much. The proof of the pudding will be in the schools going back. My...

Coronavirus Discussion So.... The Coronavirus / COVID-19

Another huge drop today. Testing down about 160k on last week (attributable - probably - to schools breaking up), but positivity rate *seems* to be down. Clench, everyone. In about a week, we'll have a good idea if Monday's further relaxation has had much/any impact. Another week of...

Coronavirus Discussion So.... The Coronavirus / COVID-19

Oddly, she's a bit better for having picked up - and recovered from - Delta a few weeks ago. Not that I'd recommend that as a cure... I had brain fog, exhaustion, and hallucinations when dropping off/waking up for about 9 or 10 months. They started to improve rapidly after my first jab, and I'd...

Coronavirus Discussion So.... The Coronavirus / COVID-19

It'll lurch forward again for a couple of weeks after the 19th, then the schools will close. That will hopefully provide a natural slowdown. I am seriously worried about how many kids might end up with Long Covid. One of my students (13) still isn't right 17 months on.

Coronavirus Discussion So.... The Coronavirus / COVID-19

I have a tendency to disappear up my own backside with anxiety every time cases shoot up, but as someone relatively trustworthy and official said earlier, a good many of those cases now - thanks to the vaccines - are either a slight cold, or completely asymptomatic. Keep an eye on the hospital...

Coronavirus Discussion So.... The Coronavirus / COVID-19

Yup. Bound to happen, though. I do have a good news story about vaccine effectiveness, though. A friend of mine (double vaccinated) has had both teenage children (13 and 17) and husband (double vaccinated, but only just) at home with Covid for the past week. Kids and husband were a bit under...

Coronavirus Discussion So.... The Coronavirus / COVID-19

I know of at least two under 20s who have it for the second time right now - one is a student of mine (13) who has unfortunately spent the year in and out of hospital with complications from Long Covid. And there are currently no plans to vaccinate kids...yeesh.

Coronavirus Discussion So.... The Coronavirus / COVID-19

Hard to tell, isn't it? Had a phone appointment with my GP this morning - he reckons that in some areas with an older demographic, it's just running out of people to infect. Again, keep those jabs coming!

Coronavirus Discussion So.... The Coronavirus / COVID-19

I just don't know what to think. I don't dare hope. I've got a REALLY big gig on Bank Holiday Monday, which will involve (I hope) about 100 amateur singers in the chorus. But the DCMS don't seem to think choirs exist. As long as the rate of rise keeps slowing. Keep those jabs coming!

Damn, you beat me to it. Was just doing those sums! I'd lay money on a fortnight's "wait and see".

Coronavirus Discussion So.... The Coronavirus / COVID-19

My corner of London starting to look like a hotspot too according to the ZOE app. Maths geek here hasn't sat down with the numbers on a piece of paper yet, but the week on week increase to my eye looks like 30% (cases) on last Friday rather than 60% the week before. The implication is it's...

Coronavirus Discussion So.... The Coronavirus / COVID-19

I think 21st June is going to be a half-step rather than pushed back. Putting it selfishly, I hope so. I don't really want to lose the income from the same concert now on its third time of re-booking AGAIN.

I expected higher, even with the Bank Holiday backlog. The next week is going to give a clearer picture.
