Hi,

I applied to Appen Butler Hill a little while ago and have just had an email asking for a copy of my photo ID. Is this the norm? Just wanted to make sure before I send anything off.

Thank you xx
Hi [member=4345]Lyndsr1[/member] I just applied for work with them and received an email today asking me for two photographic ID copies. I only have passport as I'm still on the old style paper driving licence so hoping that'll be okay. I'm assuming this is the norm? Be interesting to know if anyone else has done this.

They had me do a background check which involved sending photos of my drivers license. It was absolutely fine.

I guess they just want to know who is working for them

Hi [member=2645]LuckyJ[/member] - I only have the old style non photo driving licence and a passport for my photo id so I'm hoping both will suffice. I do have an enhanced DBS (criminal records) check but again without photo so they may not accept..

Great, thank you both. I will send them over to them now. I really hope I get some work with them soon!

Has anyone "upgraded" their job at Appen? I'm currently on a project that's for one hour a day, but from looking at their website, the page with available jobs on says that there are ones available for 1-4 hours per day, and from the looks of it it's the same type of job that I'm currently doing. It would be nice to have the chance to do an extra hour or two a day.

Onwards and upwards! There's plenty of other work out there but I understand how you feel as I've been rejected by loads of other online earning ops back in the day!

Eventually, i hope i will get a job that i can work full-time when my son goes to full-time school next year. For now, i am happy enough with making money online, which i didn't think that i could (i was able to buy New Iphone 7 after 2 months working online, that's really amazing for me)

If you are a competent computer/internet user with good spelling and grammar then you'll find work with them no problem.

I applied over the weekend and received an email today saying I have successfully passed the pre-screen, but unfortunately, they do not have any projects currently available. They then go on to say when a new project becomes available they will reach out to me.

Has anyone ever received an offer via email or should I just keep applying as jobs become available?

Or are they politely giving me the brush-off?

Hi,

Just applying for Crowdsourcing with them - even though I do not have a clue what it involves, ha ha!
Can someone please confirm that I apply as a 'Contractor' e.g. not an employee.

Also, just going through the Master Services Agreement, a lot of which is legal gobble-de-gook to me. Is this okay?
I especially don't understand the Liquidated Damages with up to $10,000 payable for breach of the Agreement.

Yes you are a contractor and yes the legal stuff is fine to agree to :)

Thanks @Jon

Just going through the Scope of Work agreement part and it is asking for Work Permit No. if applicable and also Tax ID No. Do I just put in my NI number, or are neither applicable as it is not UK?

Thanks :)

Incidentally, belated birthday wishes to you - have only just got back online due to moving home

Still getting used to the new version too, ha ha!

It's been so long since I applied to work for them but NI would make sense as the thing to add there

Thanks, @Jon Yes, I put my NI in and just put Not applicable in the Work Permit bit as it would not let me proceed with it just blank

Hi, I have just been having a look on this website and wondered if anybody could provide some clarity before I jump in and apply.

It states competitive pay...is this an hourly rate or based on work completed?
It also states 4 flexible hours per day - 5 days per week...how would this be monitored?

Thanks in advance :)

WSE pay is by the hour and above UK min wage

I imagine it would be monitored based on when you are logged into their system and doing work each day
