Is it ok for me to join? I'm new to all this - but very dedicated (lol).
I'll start sensibly and aim for £100

BeMyEye - 0.70
Roamler - 16.00
Task 360 - 9.50
ClickSnap - 0.50

£26.70/£100.00 = £73.70 to go

Sold my Fitbit on eBay for £70. Cha-ching!
What will you use to track your sleep now???

As you can sense I am against Fitbits and think they create a false economy for people in terms of how many calories they can now eat due to walking x number of steps or whatever

Agree and disagree.

People should never consider Fitbits a perfect measurement of daily calorie expenditure as there are too many variables. What I would say though is that they're a lot more accurate than classic pedometers, and can be a great motivation for some people to get out and walk more. With the family and friend challenges etc, it can be a great way for people to try to get fit in their daily routines (extra stairs, parking further away from somewhere, walking to the shop etc.).
