Hi to all

I just started Matched Betting today following the Profit Accumulator hand holding videos.

Back in the day I used to follow a betting system which never worked for me, so I am at least familiar with Betfair and that's an advantage with this. I haven't got quite such a steep learning curve. It seems fairly straightforward but getting my head around all the different user interfaces is slightly challenging.

On my first free bet, I didn't realise how to place the free bet and ended up making a cash bet, so lost about 4 quid on that one. Chalk that up to experience, I won't do it again. Currently got three champs league bets waiting on tonight's games.

I signed up for Betfred this afternoon and was unable to deposit funds, then it signed me out and I was unable to access the account at all, had a chat with the chatline person and ended up having to get all my documentation together. Discovered that my postcode on the only bill I have in my name is wrong, and trying to change it online involves a security assault course that just about made me lose the will to live. Sigh!

I don't know whether this comes up later in the training process, but I was wondering how to handle the Betfair side of the matching. As you are always laying on BF, will you end up having to top up your BF account with winnings from the other bookies? Or does it even out on those occasions when the lay bet comes good?

Hi @Parselmouth

Fantastic to have you on here and posting

If you lay bet comes good (which is what you want when you first start out) then you will find you have to top up a lot less but at the start it's either a case of topping up betfair or waiting for you bookie winnings to end up back in your bank account

Depends how much you start with but I only started with £50 and first week or so was kind of like pulling teeth lol
But not I have a bankroll of around £3000 and have made over £25,000 (probably more now tbh) so everything will sort out over time money wise :)

What Jon said.

Also, don't forget to sign up for Smarkets too as an alternative for Betfair. Some markets you can only find on BF but smarkets carries a lot of the main ones and has only 2% commission. I think there is some bonus money in their sign up offer too.

Yes! Love Smarkets, PA has their sign up offer on their site too so it's worth a look. I've been shocked sometimes with how much difference that bit less commission makes, and again, it has a very straightforward interface.

I started off with £50 too, now have made a nice bit of profit and am now having loads more fun doing offers etc (also helps that I now understand more of what I'm doing, whereas when it was completely new to me, I'd never gambled online in my life!, so I was very anxious about it all... now I find it exciting!)

Off the top of my head I'm not sure (I keep a notebook instead of spreadsheet), but easily £65 so far this month as I've just completed some offers tonight :)

Uni has been quite full on, so I haven't been able to MB every night like I was in the summer, but can't complain!

Thanks for the replies.

Unfortunately I backed and laid the draw last night on the Liverpool Sevilla match and it was a draw, so I'm not off to a flying start but am in profit so that's good.

I need to sort out my postcode issue and get cracking with more bets. I started out with £50 but I can put more in if it helps to get things moving.

How is backing and laying the draw unfortunate? Thats exactly the right thing to do... you will have lost at the exchange but won at bookies.. so it balances out. As some have posted above.. for exchange use Smarkets and Matchbook.. no point giving BF their high commission... i practically never touched BF exchange...would always find a good match on one of the other two. More money in means you can work thru more signups and reloads faster... if you can afford to tie money up in MBing go for it.. you can always withdraw extra back whenever you like... its not going anywhere lol (just getting fatter!)

I suppose only in the sense that the money has landed in my Coral account rather than the Betfair account. I don't suppose it matters and I can top it up as needs be.

I have signed up for Smarkets, looks like a nice clean user interface. You can easily see how much liquidity there is in the market.

Am stalled today as I'm waiting on clearance from Betfred, but I have to go and work anyway, so maybe it will be through by the time I get home.

Ahh.. got you now..lol. yeah that can be a pain especially on low price bets.. nearly always a bookie win.... try some higher priced mugs if you have enough in exchanges to cover and fairly good chance you will win into exchange (save the wait on withdrawing) dont be afraid to push BF on getting your security checks sorted... if you cant bet they cant take all your money...or so they think lol

I am taking things rather slow, I have made some money but not as much as I would like. I don't want to confuse myself by having bets going on all over the place, and it's such a fiddly pain to open all the bookies accounts. Many annoying little issues to resolve along the way. It's taking time for the free bets to appear in my accounts. Signed up to Profit Accumulator and will see how it goes the first month.

My bank (Barclays) has a hair trigger fraud detection algorithm so I fully expect to get locked out of my account and have to ring the Fraud department any day now.
