Just put down my third accumulator, this one is lay at start - I think I might be getting to grips with how accas work. I know this comes up a fair bit, I've read various tutorials on it and have sort of an idea...

Anyone care to do a 'explain it like i'm 5'?

Thanks, it sort of explains how they work but not really how they make money - I suppose the confusing part for me is if I put an acca down for 25 quid and lay each race (so 5x about 25 quid) aren't I laying more than I should. I suppose individual races losing give me cash back on the lay but if I only lose 2 out of 5 races I only get 2 wins at the exchange and 25 back for the acca deal, I'm still out 2x25 quid aren't I?

Depends on what odds you are using but It should be less than that. Also, you only get the money back from the Acca offer if one leg loses. But yes, losing 2 out of 5 is about the worst situation and is why i don't like Lay all at start accas. There is a lot more variance than with laying sequentially and locking in profit.

I've not heard someone say Accas are overrated before lol

What makes you think that?I just tend to do them on autopilot and now we have the tools to make the entire acca for us it's just so easy to do each time!

I find them too much of a faff for fairly little return. Laying everything up front can expose you to too much of a qualifying loss. And I don't like exposing myself.
Lay sequentially and you also risk odds drifting for the events that happen later in the weekend.

What do you think you make off them on average @Jon ? Say over your last 10 Accas?

I make on average £3.50 from a £20 acca, locking in sequentially. No QL but not a great return.

Fair points

I just do Normal + Lock In

So on £25 lock in I tend to make £2-£5 I would say and on Normal £25 ones If they 'hit' I make around £20 odd and if they lose and I make a small loss the Lock In accas have covered that

I just tend to do at least 5 a week as a 'background' thing to the normal day to day reloads we all do

I remember before we got the likes of Acca Catcher and you had to find all your matches manually and use a spreadsheet. Was a chuffing nightmare!

I quite like that idea of using the lock ins to cover the qually loss, I might try that. I suppose if you are doing 5 a week it adds up.

Spreadsheets? You were more advanced than me then. I had a spiral bound notebook and post it notes everywhere!

I have watched the videos twice and understand how to place the bets. But what happens to the bets at the bookies if one of the legs loses? For example, if I have placed my five bets at the bookies and the third one loses then I know to stop laying at the exchange. What happens to the remaining two at the bookie? Do they go ahead because presumably they don't know I am match betting (in which case I can potentially lose money because those ones haven't been laid), are they automatically cancelled because it is an acca, or are those losses already factored into the qualifying loss? Sorry if this seems like a foolish question. I can understand the beginning and middle of the process but cannot quite understand the end.

I am trying to finish up the Bet Victor sign up offer. The first free bet was a breeze, I wagered through £400 and turned my £10 casino bonus into £37.51 profit, and had a minor fit over the in-play free bet, so I don't want to mess up at the last hurdle.

You are almost right. Except you are not making 5 bets at the bookies, but a single accumulator bet with 5 legs. You then lay each leg on the exchange until one loses or all 5 have won.

But dont forget we are mostly doing offers where the bookie gives you your money back as a free bet if one leg loses, so if one does lose we keep laying against the free bet amount until either we get to the end or a second leg loses. This is all factored into the acca catcher software so as long as you tell it how many legs you're doing and what the bonus is it will give you all the right amounts to lay and tell you when to stop.

I can show you the maths behind it if you want, but it makes my head hurt and quite honestly you are fine to trust whatever figures PA or OM gives you.

Thanks Homie, I really feel like I'm almost there in terms of understanding, but I feel like I've put a jigsaw together and in places I've just rammed in a piece where it shouldn't really go. I can see the overall picture, but in parts the understanding isn't quite there....

The second leg of my acca has won. In laying the third leg, there is just £17 in the market and the acca calculator says my lay bet is £15.43. Is it okay to still place the lay bet or should I wait and hope it goes up? I guess I have to complete the acca regardless?

Interested how many Refund Accas people have going at any one time per bookie. Other than Acca clubs where you might have 3 going at once, I keep to doing one Refund Acca at a time. Just keep thinking with some bookies you can claim many per day.

Based on other MB principles my current thinking is stick to your betting profile and increase gradually. Would it be a great way to get into a VIP club (should they exist)?

Do any of you do more than one refund acca on the go with any one bookie?

Okay, so as long as there is more than my stake it is fine. I guess I got focused on the PA guy that keeps on saying in the videos to set the availability to £25 that I thought if there was plenty less than that it was not good. Thanks Jon.

Can you pm me the maths. I can then play it through my head on the daily commute! Keep my arithmetic in good mental order and learn the systems as I am driving!

Thanks
