Hi,

I have been lurking for a while... I am enthused and excited about MB. I know absolutely nothing about betting, gambling, horses or football! So a total, green novice.

I am quite good with maths though (I think) so I'm hoping this helps?

Looking to start in a week or so. I am currently waiting for on-line details for a new bank account I've opened and will then transfer approx. £100 into that as a starting fund. I'm also thinking PA as a good place to start?

I've been working my butt off on Clickworker and Prolific to get enough money in to start so it's not coming out of our 'real' money so to speak.

I'm really excited to start. I'm hoping I can make enough to pay off some credit cards. We went all out a year ago to buy our 'dream home' (It's only a 3 bed terrace but it's ours and we love it) and in the process we ended up incurring a few debts with credit cards. We also owe some money to my parents so would be nice to pay them back quicker than the £200 a month we're doing at the moment.

If you could send some knowledge dust and good luck dust my way I'd appreciate it!

Thanks for reading!

Hey @jumpy10

Fantastic to have you on here and posting!

Starting with £100 is £50 more than I started with and I've made over £25,000+ so far from Risk Free Matched Betting (https://blog.themoneyshed.co.uk/risk-free-matched-betting-make-25000/)

It's great owning a home isn't it. We just put a conservatory on ours (paid for with Matched Betting!) lol

You sound like you've got everything you need so should be ready to get back in the black before you know it!

Thanks Jon.
I've read, you tubed, and researched as much as I possibly can. I'm not sure I 'get it' but from what I've read the best way to learn is just to start so that's what I'm going to do.
I am ridiculously nervous but not using our 'real money' really helps, like I have nothing to lose?

I'll probably ask some dumb questions so I apologise for that in advance!

I am so grateful I found this site, reading other's journeys and experiences has helped the most.

I'll keep this diary going for accountability and if it helps others in the same way it helped me, that's a bonus :)

Hi,

I haven't started yet. I am waiting to activate my new bank account on-line and receive my debit card so that I can keep everything separate to our main account. I'm hoping to get started very soon!

Thanks for asking. I will try to keep this diary updated - hopefully it will be the start of a profitable journey.

Do you do MB? Any tips???

I believe a lot of people here have a story beginning with house.....credit card...... compare to you have three beds terrace House, our two bed flat already using all our limit.... (I could say it's top 10 most expensive town in U.K.......next M25...) but as we don't want move too far from London, it's not much option anyway. With children, we have to choose somewhere have outstanding school as well....

It's a very good start for you!!

Hi,
Just 'checking in'. Nothing to report, I still haven't started MB ing. Still waiting for a new bank account to be set up. I really don't want to start with our normal account, as we've got our mortgage deal ending in November 18 and I don't want any betting transactions showing on there.
I'm chomping at the bit to get going but having to be patient which is not one of my strongest traits!

Hope everyone is ok out there in TMS land.

Hi,

So I'm still waiting for a separate bank account to be set up after the bank 'lost' my proof of address info...grrrrr.....

I am literally just waiting for that to be able to start. On the plus side though, it's enabled me to up my starting bank roll to about £200 (working on Clickworker and some nice surveys from Prolific) and it's allowed me to learn more, reading everything I can and watching as many youtube videos I can find. I'm still not 100% sure I get it but I'm hoping it will all fall into place once I actually start.

I have a quick question. Do you all use the same email address for your bookie accounts? I've read somewhere that it's advisable to use different email addresses but surely that's a lot!!??

Thanks a lot.

And passwords I imagine too! Matched betting is addictive so only ever play with your seed money. I’d only bet half of what you’ve got and take a while to get used to it as during your first few weeks it’s easy to make a mistake. If you do then don’t chase it either. Let it go, learn from it and use your backup send money. And never ever play online roulette. You’ll see millions of people saying they’ve got a winning strategy for it but they haven’t. The house always wins!

Hi Jon,

Yep, pretty much all set.... just waiting for funds to move across from PayPal to my new bank account. I've cleared Saturday to start, kids at their Nana's and me and husband going to spend a few hours doing the first couple of sign up offers together. We hope that by doing these together we'll be less likely to make 'rookie mistakes'...?!

I'm still feeling nervous and apprehensive but also really keen to give it a go.

There may be some stupid questions on here from me, from Saturday onwards!

Brilliant site by the way, I've practically read it top to bottom....if Carlsberg made lurkers....

Hi,

So started today. Done my first QB with Coral and then placed my 4 x £5.00 FB. The closest match was for a draw, so I just laid against that in the Exchange...is that right?
Going to stop for today and wait to see the results later tonight, so it will hopefully confirm that I've not messed up!!

It was relatively easy to do, so feel ok to do my next QB tomorrow.

Thanks all.

Great to hear you've started your matched betting journey. Won't be long at all until you've made your first £1000 ;)

Hi,
Trying to bet complete QB with Betfred and having trouble with their site. It seems really 'laggy' and refuses to change from fractions to decimals! Anybody else had this with Betfred?
Or can anyone tell me how to bet in 'old money' ie in fractions...needs to be 2.0 and then can I just lay this off at Betfair at 2.0?

TIA

Hi Jon,

I'm on my laptop. Have tried as you suggested
Edit - I've done it but still showing as fractions on the main page, it's only when I've pulled up the betting slip that it shows the decimals.... must be a quirk of the betfred site?
I selected the match from PA and it showed the same odds....
Thank you - starting to enjoy this now! Waiting for results and free bets to come in now.:):(
