Here's my strategy to save a little bit on every ebay item I buy. They are only tiny savings of pennies here and there but if like me you spend a lot on ebay then they add up by the end of the year.

I go for a three pronged attack....

Enter ebay through TopCashBack - 1% on all purchases.
Link my ebay account to nectar card - 0.5% on all purchases
Pay via paypal using cashback credit card - 1% on all purchases.

Total 2.5% - Which I agree is peanuts but sometimes topcashback run special promotions on certain categories. Earlier in the year they did 4% for sporting goods, so when I spent £100 on a new part for my bike my total saving using all three prongs was £5.50.

Clearly you can only spend nectar points in certain places and it takes ages to accumulate the money in topcashback but the savings are there and require very little extra work.

Don't forget that many sellers have a 'best offer' button too, which can help save a bit too.

Quite right Joraffe - Here's a little tip for making offers too.

For sellers that frequently list with best offer you can use 'Goofbid' to look up how much under the selling price they have accepted on their recent items, so you can get a good idea of how much to make your offer for.

https://www.goofbid.com/ebay_best_offers_tool.html

here's an example of if working (it takes a couple of minutes) but you can see this seller usually accepts around a 15% to 20% reduction so can you that to make the best offer you think will get accepted. https://www.goofbid.com/ebay_best_o...s&gbo_submit=&gbo_submit.x=16&gbo_submit.y=8#

Used 'Goofbid' years ago but had forgotten all about it!

Another tip - If you buy clothes, buy them out if season if you can - think jumpers in July and summer dresses in November.

Whilst I appreciate most sellers don't list clothes out of season there are some bargains to be had from those that do.

Not heard of Goofbid before, very clever!

I like those ideas @homie for shaving money off each time you order from eBay.

I always think that if you don't do these things someone else will and they are the ones that will have save more money than you each time at the end of the day lol

Ohh some great ideas here, already do the nectar thing but didn't know about Topcashback or Goofbid. Gonna try them out next time I'm on eBay. Thanks guys.

A couple of other places offer cashback on Ebay purchases. I have my utilities with Utility Warehouse and they have a variety of cashback partners for your online shopping including Ebay. The best thing about them is that the cashback is used to reduce your monthly bill (1.5% CB on 'buy it now' orders). So no waiting around for ages for the cashback to track, and be confirmed. I tend to use Kidstart when on my phone because it is easier, even though the CB is lower. Kidstart offers 15% CB back on Ebay revenue (which works out at about 1% of your purchase price). I like them is because they track quickly and without issue. If you are not signed up and feel you want to, please feel free to use my referral link (at no cost to you, I get £5 credit once you get £5 in cashback).

My sentiments exactly. It's a bit like a game, how much money can I keep each month rather than hand over to larger retailers! Their marketing depts probably hate the likes of me lol.

Great point about stacking up topcashback, loyalty cards and a cashback credit card. Sometimes I buy discount giftcards from Zeek using my cashback credit card, and use those combined with topcashback for extra savings.

Zeek is a good idea. At the moment, if you cash out on TopCashBack in Zeek vouchers you get 20% more. So if you have £20 in your TCB account, you'll get £24 Zeek vouchers, which is probably the best deal they've had on it for a while.

I do TopCashback and Nectar, hadn't thought of Paypal credit though.
