I’m starting this thread as a couple of people have asked me about the best way to move forward from the sign ups to reloads and accas.

First of all. Make sure you are making the most of the easy money from the weekly free bet clubs. The simple ones are listed below and all you need to do is bet the required amount (you dont have to do it all in one go) and lay it on the exchange using your matched betting calculator in normal mode. You are then credited with a free bet at the end of the week. Rinse and repeat every week.

Remember some require you to opt in first.

Coral: bet £25 between mon and thurs at odds over 2.0 = £5 free bet.
Skybet: bet £25 between mon and sunday at odds over 2.0 = £5 free bet.
Betsafe: place 6 x £10 bets between mon and friday at odds over 1.5 = £10 mobile Safe bet for the weekend.
PaddyPower: 5 x £10 bets between Monday and Sunday at odds over 1.5 - £10 free bet.
Dabblebet: Place 2 x £10 bets on weekend football, fri to sun at odds over 1.8 = £5 free bet.

Now lets look at some reloads. :)

The reloads or on-going offers are often a little bit more complicated than sign up offers and also usually less generous. However, they are repeatable every week. They usually take the form of bet £X and if Y happens you get a free bet or a bonus payment. The downside to these is that Y has to occur to get the bonus so often you will suffer a qualifying loss if Y doesn’t happen. For this reason, it is very important to keep qualifying losses as low as possible by looking for the best matches and not blindly hitting every offer you see. Try to seek value, and if you know about a particular sport, use that to your advantage to pick the offers that you think are most likely to come in. Horses and Football are the most common and here are a couple of easy ones I suggest you try as an introduction....

3/1 Horses - Weekly offer from Bet fair Sportsbook:
Place a bet of up to £25 on an horse at starting price of 4 or greater in any live Channel 4 race and if it wins get your stake back as a free bet.
My method:
Use an odds checker to find the best matches for the eligible races. (remember the horse must go off at a starting price of at least 4, so its important to back quite close to the race in case its odds suddenly drop) Best to target odds between 5 and 10. (you may find better odds by just manually checking between bookie to smarkets, just before the off)
When you find a good match place the back bet at Betfair Sportbook. I like to Bet £20.
Don’t use any calculators, as long as you got a good match you can make the offer risk free by laying £20.40 at smarkets.
**DO NOT LAY BETFAIR SPORTSBOOK BETS ON BETFAIR'S EXCHANGE**

If your horse wins, you will suffer a small qualifying loss, but get a £20 free bet. If it loses, then you break even with no loss and can go again on another race.

Sky Bets 2nd/3rd place refund. (usually the first channel 4 race on Saturdays or daily during big festivals)
This offer will refund you your stake as a free bet if the horse comes 2nd or 3rd.
Very simple. Just back a horse for £20 in the designated race and lay it on the exchange. Calculate your lay using a matched betting calc in normal mode*. If the horse comes 2nd or 3rd you get a £20 free bet. If it wins or places 4 or worse you will suffer a small qualifying loss.

*Where the odds allow I like to combine this with The betfair offer and pick the same horse. When I lay, I lay the full stake instead of using the calculator which means I will get less in the event of a win but still a good profit and eliminate any losses. It also means you know you will get a pay out if your horse finishes anywhere in the top 3. But you don't have to do this.

William Hill High 5.
For this offer, if your horse wins by 5 lenghts or more WH will pay out a 15% bonus as a free bet. Unfortunately, the bonus has been reduced this year but can still be worth a dabble if you can get a very close match.
Stick to low odds < 5.0 where the horses will have a better chance of winning by a margin. 5 lengths isn’t actually as far as it sounds so it does come in sometimes. Remember to use your WH odds boost if its still available and only go for this one of you can get an exact or very close match. Just back and lay according to the calc in normal mode. Hope for a win by 5 lengths or more for a small bonus free bet. Any other result with be a small loss.

Remember, Odds monkey and Profit accumulator both have racing matchers you can use to help find offers.

And one footy offer to try.
William Hill 4 means more. Here you get a 15% bonus on your winnings if you win and 4 or more goals are scored. The easiest approach to this one is to do a straightforward back and lay and hope you trigger the free bet. However, don’t waste time with very short odds as you are only getting a 15% bonus on winnings, not your stake. So you need odds of at least 1.5 to make it worth while. This weekend’s 4 means more matches are:

Chelsea v Newcastle - Saturday 2nd Dec 12:30
Arsenal v Manchester United - Saturday 2nd Dec 17:30
Bournemouth v Southampton - Sunday 3rd Dec 13:30
Manchester City v West Ham - Sunday 3rd Dec 16:00

Of these, Chelsea and Man City are likely to be too short. So focus on trying to get a good match on one of the other two. You can use your odds boost to make the odds a bit better too.
Again, it is a straightforward back/lay in normal mode and hope your team wins and there are 4 goals or more.

Good luck with these. I’ll add some more ideas next week and hopefully other people will chip in with their favourite offers too. Keep it to the simple ones for now.

My nugget of advice for would be FOR CRYING OUT LOUD JUST GET ON WITH DOING THE RELOAD OFFERS AND USING THE TOOLS!

I see a LOT of people post about how there is no money in Matched Betting beyond the sign up offers and they are wrong, wrong, WRONG!

Yes you might have to use some tools you haven't used before and learn new things but once you've got over that hurdle you can earn £££ each month what you wouldn't do if you hadn't bothered

Summary : HAVE NO FEAR AND PUSH ON!

The biggest thing I've had to come to terms with is belief in the edge that positive EV gives us.

We know that when we first start with MB we get into the "do X get Y" habit of making money on each introductory offer risk free, but in reloads-land we then persist with offers where we win or make a loss but rely on positive EV to make profit over the long term.

@Jon is right and as the PA guides tell us, we should embrace the challenge and march on in (assuming we get +EV if indeed it is calculable).

Whilst doing the signup offers it's worth also coming to terms with the basic psychology (not necessarily any complicated math) of betting and how an 'edge' works.

Skybet Saturday price boost

Here's an easy way to make an extra pound or two each week, while also helping you towards the Skybet weekly free bet club.

From Friday each week Sky always do a soccer accumulator with boosted odds. A lot of newbies miss these beacuse they don't like to mess around with accumulators, but in this case it's very easy.

This weeks offer.

https://m.skybet.com/football/soccer-special-price-boost/event/21584402

Tottenham, Wolves and Aston Villa all to win @ 5.0

These matches all take part at the same time so we can't lay them one at a time like you normally would want to with an accumulator. But betfair has an accumulator market for triples, so we can lay it there. Note that it is a mixed league acca, so normally you couldn't do it, however, Betfair know what side their bread is buttered and put up a special acca market that matches the skybet acca exactly. You can find it under Premier league/Special Acca. Here is the direct link. https://www.betfair.com/exchange/plus/football/market/1.137809211

Its quite a good one this week. Odds at the moment are back @ 5.0 lay @ 3.65 (although these will move about)

So all you need to do is.
1. Back the acca at sky for £10 (some people find they are restricted to small bets, so hopefully you are not)
2. Lay the special acca with the same teams at betfair. Using a calculator in normal mode gives us a lay of £13.89 @ odds of 3.65 which is a guaranteed profit of £3.20 after commission.

Very quick and easy to do once you know where to look.

Additional:
You could bet and lay more, £20 would double your profit but I worry about taking too much value from the bookies and risk restrictions/gubbing.
If you know about football and think all 3 teams will win you could underlay to go for more profit. In this case, for a £10 bet a lay of £10.50 will cover your commission and give you nearly £12 profit if they all win or break even for any other outcome.

Good luck!

There is a similar offer to the above with William Hill/Betfair exchange but you'd need to be staking a lot of money for it to be really worthwhile.

Thanks for posting that though. Good thread all in.

Thanks for this thread, it’s just what I need to hear! I’m just coming to the end of all the sign up offers and want to move on to the reloads but it’s taking a bit to get my head round the different strategies, and the fact that they aren’t as lucrative as sign up offers. However it’s starting to sink in that this is for the long term now, and if I just keep plugging away there is still money to be made.

I think the Christmas break has come just in time, I’ll be ready to start reloads once all the festive shenanigans have calmed down!

Let’s do this!!

The back bet at the bookmaker is for team A to win, whilst the lay bet at the exchange is against team A to win - the lay bet covers the draw and team B to win in a football match, of which there are only three possible outcomes.

So when you start doing reloads, would you expect to have volatile profits and (small) losses since you are often waiting for X to occur?

With some reloads you can lock-in a profit like weekly free bet clubs - Paddy, Coral, Unibet. Other reloads involve a small qualifying loss like horse racing refunds, fun88, but you're re-investing your MB profits to make more ongoing cash. Just keep qualifying losses to a minimum and try to combine offers on the same event.

Here's a couple more football offers to try once you are a bit more experienced, as they require taking some action during the match. There are several different ways to approach these and they really lend themselves to dutching, but I'll cover that another time. Let's just look at straight forward back and lay for now.

Paddy power and Bet365 2up offers

These are identical offers that will pay you out as a winner if your team goes 2 goals ahead at any point in the match. There are 2 main ways to approach the offer.

Start by identifying the matches which have sensible odds. A match that has a clear favourite with odds under 1.5 wont give much option for locking in profit, likewise teams with very long odds aren't likely to go 2up at any point in the first place, so I try not to pick those too. Then see which ones offer the best odds match with the exchange. In today's fixtures Stoke (around 2.4) V Newcastle (at 3.4ish) is the one I'm going to go for, as the odds are decent enough and I can back both of the teams in this match.

For this example I will back Stoke with B365 for £25 and lay it on exchange

This gives a qualifying loss of around £0.70

I use an app called Goal live https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kokteyl.goal&hl=en_GB to give me live updates of any goals scored, so i dont have to constantly monitor the matches.

Here's what can happen:

1. Your team doesn't go 2 goals up at any point. - No bonus for you today.

2. Your team does go 2 goals clear. - The bookmaker will now pay you out as if you had won, but the match is still going on so we have some options.

a) you could back your team some more on the exchange, Odds Monkey members have a calculator to help them do this here: https://www.oddsmonkey.com/Tools/Calculators/EarlyPayoutCalculator.aspx Odds will vary wildly depending on how long is left to play and how dominant your team seem. Locking in at this point is the safe option but won't produce much profit.

b) instead you could wait and hope the other team score one back. If there is time left then the odds will pick up and you can use the calculator above to lock in a greater profit.

c) Do nothing. Now you are hoping the other team will equalise or even go on to win the match. It can happen. This results in the greatest profit as you win at the bookie and exchange.

I did quite well with these before Christmas but not so great since.

Another offer worth a look is the Bet Stars premier league 80min+ insurance.
They will give you your money back as a free bet if your bet is winning at the 80th min and then goes on to lose. Sounds quite a good offer although it has only come in once for me so far.

I just go for a straightforward odds matcher search to find the best match then back and lay as normal. If possible i prefer backing draw because then if its a 0-0 game either team getting a late goal will trigger the free bet.

You dont need to do anything until 80 mins in. If your bet is winning at 80 mins you can then either:

a - leave it alone and hope something happens in the last ten minutes to trigger the free bet.

b - lock in some profit by backing half the value of the free bet on your bet again on the exchange. Because there are only 10 mins left to play this won't produce a lot of profit.

If your bet isn't winning at 80mins then there's no bonus this time.

Thats it for that one really.

Anyway, having said all that, the best way to use these offers is by dutching them against each other, along with WH 4means more and anything else thats out there. I'll try and write a dutching guide for that next time.
