Money Making Megastar!
Anyone read this article about Social Media pressure on Teenagers today on the BBC
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-42563173
It's really interesting but also terrifying as well
highlights include
Now I see a LOT of fashion and beauty bloggers online freaking out when they don't get enough likes on Instragram on their photos and these girls are in their late teens / early-mid 20s so it appears the trend continues WAY beyond the teenage years!
I work in a secondary school and see this on a daily basis. The pressure to conform to what social media presents as "normal" is huge. It's scary how much a teenagers life revolves around social media. It has been a HUGE wake up call to me. I still have FB etc but I've deleted the apps off my phone. I have to actually log into them if I want to when I'm on the go. I still have them on my ipad for a home. I have a pre-teen daughter and I really want to teach her that it is possible to have a life that isn't constantly being posted online, and still be happy and have friends etc. Scary times our children are growing up in. I'm very glad I am not a teenager now!
