My other half. I've cooked cleaned done shit loads, made massive pan of cawl for extended family. I'm going through a hard time after losing my mum 2 days before Christmas. Get asked why I'm tired and not to happy ATM. When I say I work do things and I'm missing my mum, get the reply of well if your not happy do something about it. Fucking cheers for the sympathy.
All the times I was strong for her, when her dad passed. Sick of being there for others with shoulders that can carry the weight of the world and getting no help back...
...except for you guys and girls of course.

My and my wife are often in a similar position. We tend to be the safety net for others knowing full well there is no safety net under us. We are looked on as being the strong ones and it's true we are strong and resilient but that only lasts for so long. I keep a check on my wife and she keeps a check on me and when things get too much we call time out and take a step back. When it's just you then that's different and agree with @Knopfler 's advice.

I hate to be negative in this thread, but I have to say absolutely nothing today has annoyed me. Had a lovely day even though I haven't stopped all day. Cooked a massive dinner, done 3 loads of washing, dried and folded. Tidied the house, seen my dad and even managed to watch Thor: Ragnarok. Not a great film but made me lol and smile aquite a lot.

Was in a taxi last night and involved in a 3 car collision (wasn't too bad, me and daughter are fine). Made me late home grr, although I didn't stop to talk to police or anything, I did call the 101 number and put my report in when I got home to get a log number.

People keep telling me to claim for compensation or something, how would I go about doing that? Anyone done it before?

You'd need your taxi's insurance details. Call the taxi company and ask.

You need to make sure you are ok - which will require doctors appointments. And it might take a day or two for the shock to pass.

I was involved in a car accident about 2 years ago - someone pulled across me. My car was a write off and I thought I might have some long-term issues but after speaking to their insurer who said "come to me once you've spoken to a doctor", we agreed to give me 2 weeks to see if there were any ill effects. There wasn't so I didn't claim anything for 'personal injury'.

DO NOT CONTACT ANYONE YOU SEE ADVERTISED ON TV/BY TEXT/JUST CALLS YOU UP.

If you have genuine medical issues (whiplash/brusing/etc) then just talk to their insurance and your doctor.

The 'only' up-payment I got from my accident was, after agreeing to use their recommended company to handle my claim, I asked for £100 to buy a nice dinner to make up for the dinner I was late for and they agreed. Nothing else on my claim couldn't be associated to a receipt (taxis and things while waiting for it to be sorted) or the replacement car. I was not looking to profit from what was an honest accident.

:)

How they hell are we half way through the second month of the year already??

I mean seriously, how did that happen?

I'm sure New year was only a few weeks ago.

Work for me today

It’s just so damn busy and pressured at the moment and like most other local government sections we are always being asked to do more with less staff and less money and it does not make for a good working environment AT ALL!!

Enough GDPR emails already!!! I understand that its good, and will be of benefit and has to be done. But, when you're on many thousands of email lists and each one of those is emailing you several times to give you 'one last chance to opt in' it gets a bit much.

But on the plus side its a good way of culling all of those newsletters from companies that I don't remember signing up to in the first place :)

What pissed me off today.. well.. six am on the M6 in the work van.. blue lights in the mirror.. cops.. your van is uninsured.. am like wtf.. so the van was put off road but the Muppets that load them decided to load my run in it.. i had no idea at all.. cops were sympathetic to the situation... But.. i was still driving an uninsured vehicle.. so .. the points for this will put me over so i may lose my licence.. which means losing my job.. losing doing task apps.. lose my work in bands.. and with an IN10 endorsement on licence my insurance will treble.. so my only hope is have my day in court tell the situation and hope.. not a great day.

Sorry to hear that Mab. Surely if you have been provided with a Van from your employer then it is their responsibility for it being insured and they should suffer the consequences if its uninsurance, not you.
Is the law saying it's your responsibility to check the documentation every time you take a vehicle out then. I've driven company vehicles before and never even thought about doing that.

The company are liable yeah.. it was a lack of communication.. the van should have had its keys locked away to prevent it getting used..but it was in the depot getting work done and was left there when finished.. so the loaders load whatever vans are in.. i come in at 3am grab key and go.. so it is a total screw up.. as you say there is no way for me to check the van docs.. cops had no option but to do me because their camera detected it and it is in the system then...it's a bleedin nightmare

ah man that's completely unfair!!!

Have your day in court and hopefully the judge will see sense and take the points off your licence!

Am quietly confident @Jon Am entirely blameless, there is no way for me to check if it was insured (why would i anyway LOL) Will speak with my bosses next week. Although i have points on my licence i am really careful to protect my licence given how much i rely on having it driving well over 100,000 miles a year as i do it's easy to make the odd mistake,

Well I hope the court case isn't too long away and that you give your employer what for since it's their mistake that has caused all this!

Like you've said, I've driven loads of work vans and have never had a clue about the insurance side of things!!

if nothing has changed in the legislation then you should be ok

sat the gcse geography exam today and have come out of it realising that I totally didn't answer one of the 8 mark questions properly as I didn't read the question correctly. What's worse is I knew the blooming answer! Oh well
