Well what is the end goal you want - You want the site to offer WHAT service or functionality?

Like a business directory site where you can search for a business near to yourself (and see it on a map) with customer ratings. The business with submit and manage their own business on the site.

I think that would get listings in (might not be the way I want it as I don't want a monetary field for example), but I don't think this then allows customer reviews or location searches?
Have a play around with any classified ads one as you may find that does what you want including stuff like searching for location

Yes - I have been doing that for days now and have concluded I just don't think there is anything out there.

If i could do the whole website for under £100 as a one off amount I may consider it for that. I don't want to be tied into anything and I don't want to pay more than that.

What about taking it down to basic level and take advantage of Wordpresses built in search engine

You create pages

South east
South west
North east
North west
Yorkshire
Scotlsnd

You manually add listings to these pages

Also this plugin
https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-google-maps/

The free version lets you add as many custom pins as you want and you can add the url to the page that has their details in the pin listing

Thanks Jon for trying to help. In the end, I realised the functionality I needed (and with optional extended funtionality), I would really need something built for me. I found a working demo for a widget which has everything I need and was about £30.

I thought about it quite a lot, but in the end I decided it wasn't very much money for a one off fee (will save me lots of time) and means I can carry on with my website. Sadly I have so little time to myself and so little time to do anything I want, I need a hobby for now... I reasoned that I would spend that in a month "usually" if I was doing my usual sports activities (can't do them at the moment :( ). So it's all back on for now and I am working through all the functionality pages etc.

Sorry - I should have said... I have very little time and the only time I do have is trapped with just a phone or sometimes laptop for company..

Finally cashed out on vypr, so as soon as that appears in PayPal it'll be another app deleted.

Still massively concentrating on my site. Got a bit overwhelmed with all the things left to do yesterday and made a rough plan in my head for now to split work into key sections:
1. Content for main site guide and key core functionality testing and finessing (and FaQ write up) with sample data
2. Additional functionality adds including monetisation, security and legal and more data adding
3. More testing along with more FAQ write ups
4. Communication: blog, home page, social media, tracking etc
5. Last testing and finessing

Working on the first section for now and hoping I can finish it in another week depending on how much time I get.

I'd suggest point 1 is the main one to focus on. The rest will come with time and triall and error.

So it's almost been another week gone and having a slight wobble.. just thoughts about, what if no one uses it, or what if it is really popular and I end up with even less time than I did before! Also worried about whether I will have enough to blog about despite not being at that stage yet! Just taking things step by step and trying not to worry about what could happen in the future.

Been playing around with the user front end experience a lot in the past week and it's taking forever! I am trying to keep things as simple as I can for now as I can add other things to the wish list and keep developing it in the future. Changed the to do list a little bit - done lots of the key functionality, but still got some more to do.

1. Complete core functionality settings/build, security and legal
2. Functionality testing & FAQ/help guides
3. Content build!!!!
4. Communication: blog, home page, social media, tracking etc.
5. Last testing and finessing

Hoping to get 1 done in the next week and then I can do 2 and 3 together as 3 will take a while and it'll be nice to do multiple things at the same time so I don't get bored.

Achieved nothing this last week. I decided to try and improve the user login/profile process part... many plugins tried later and I can't find a single one that works. Going to have to go back to basics and just use a login page. Now need to start again and add in the right login page etc etc.

So frustrating!

I've had a bit of a strange couple of weeks really, which were interrupted by a sicky toddler (now better). My website is still in progress and in some ways it feels like I've done nothing.

I think it's fair to say I've been on a bit of a journey of discovery with relation to getting my website set up the way I want and I have tried a lot (probably a hundred at least) plugins to try and get there. I think (fingers crossed) that I have settled on at least the key functionality ones and am logically working through all the set up options and filling out the pages.

Hopefully I am going to make good progress now and I have started to think about the blog side of it a little bit. I have started to get one blog post down so I can spend some time finessing it all. I only have about 5 or so different blog post ideas at the moment, so I'm going to have to rack my brain for some more!

So really still in full build mode at the moment, but throwing in a bit of blog posts for some variety and to make me feel like I am further through than I really am!

Whilst I continue to fight with my website to get everything working properly, I thought I should go back to my list of survey sites to purge out the ones that aren't worth it and really simplify my list. I went back to copy out my list and have crossed out any I have cashed out and got rid of. Lots more to do here!

Need to get on with Newvista as I'm on £42 and then OnePoll as I'm on about £30.

Total sites = 18 14

My top survey sites for me are:
1. PA
2. Swagbucks
3. Instagc
4. Panelbase
5. Valued Opinions

Ones I will do as and when I get time (so may not be on the list per se):
1. Newvista
2. YouGov
3. Global testmarket
4. Branded surveys
5. OnePoll
6. Populus
7. i-Say
8. Qmee
9. Vypr (will probably ditch it when I next cash out)
10. OnePulse (to get rid of if I ever cash out!)

Ones under testing at the moment:
1. Testable minds
2. PollPass
3. Quick thoughts

I know I'm a bit quiet at the moment, but busy at work and spending every waking moment trying to get this website off the ground. I am definitely getting closer now, but sometimes wonder what I've been doing when I look at what I've got! I forget how long these things take to do.

Anyway, functionality is basically there now and I need to finish adding lots of content and play with social media. I just want to launch now and get onto a business as usual type of workload and stop faffing around with it all! Hopefully another few weeks and I'll be done..

Initially, when I joined this site, I was just involved in surveys and had done lots of eBay selling to get rid of lots of excess stuff. I ran out of things to sell (thank goodness as I didn't really enjoy it...) and was looking for other ways to supplement my income instead.

Roll on 7 months and I have dabbled with matched betting, T-shirt sales (I actually made one this month!), photo sales, am seriously culling my more annoying and not very profitable survey sites and after reading so many stories and getting lots of encouragement I thought I would start my own blog.

Or at least that was the thought process...

Not sure exactly what happened, but I did have a bit of a lightbulb moment whilst designing T-shirts and my blog morphed into a website instead. 2.5 months through website development and I appear to be planning on running a full-blown online business. Somehow things just happened!

Until now I have been fully concentrating on the build, but am getting pretty close now and am just bug fixing, tweaking and adding content. Because of this, I have decided to launch my site Monday 16 July... two weeks time! It is pretty exciting and part of me wants it over as I am sick of the development side and want it to go. After sending a couple of marketing type emails to a couple of companies, I await their response and hope I can feature them on my site.

I am now having a slight wobble.. frankly, it is all a bit terrifying! I used to look at all the entrepreneurs out there and anyone managing to earn a living running their own business and be slightly envious, but always thought "I would never be able to do that." Of course my site could be a complete failure, who knows, but I have enjoyed the process thus far and hopefully will learn lots more.

Stay tuned! I am off to have a bit of a calming break today and then back to check off as many things as I can in my to do list before launch day.

All sounds good!

Just remember running a website is 80% promotion / 20% content!

You are going to need to spend the next few months guest blogging about your site elsewhere and doing everything you can SEO wise

I just wrote a blogging toolkit for Totally Blogging which might come in handy for ya

Well, it's been a long few months, but I am finally launching my website! Take a look at what can be achieved with zero website experience and only small pockets of time. https://www.circuseveryday.co.uk

Now I have launched, I need to spring clean the rest of my money making. I am always pressured on time and as usual, try to do too much. So, I am ejecting all the survey sites that aren't worth it for me. The ones below are the ones I still have, red ones are the ones I will work on cashing out, green are the ones not even worth cashing out and will go. I will reassess once I've got through some of these.

My top survey sites for me are:
1. PA
2. Swagbucks
3. Instagc
4. Panelbase
5. Valued Opinions

Ones I will do as and when I get time (so may not be on the list per se):
1. Newvista (£43/£50)
2. YouGov (£25/£50)

3. Global testmarket
4. Branded surveys
5. OnePoll (£30/£50)

6. Populus
7. i-Say

Ones under testing at the moment:
1. Testable minds
2. PollPass
3. Quick thoughts (£2 / £10)
