Personally I think that getting the offer and the amount you get depends on your betting profile with them. @Jon only usually gets £25 but has been with them a lot longer than I have and I get £50, but I do a lot of football betting with them for 2UP and regularly bet £50+ on football.
If someone signed up today I think it would be unlikely they would get the offer.
If I were to place a bet on World Cup, day Germany to win at 5.50 (this is skybet place £10 on winner or cash back as free bet if they get knocked out) and the lay odds are 5.9, what would happen if I waited to lay until maybe a couple of weeks into the cup, assuming Germany are still in? I’m thinking the lay odds will have reduced so would make a profit? Or am I talking nonsense??

But of course there is a danger (slight with Germany of course) that they get knocked out early and the odds never reduce. Assuming you can get £8 back for your £10 free bet then you would be risking £2. I personally am going the risk £2 route but I am going a bit higher in the odds (although more risky) - however I may lay £2 before the tournament starts just to cover the loss and I am then risk free.

I would lay using the free bet stake not returned calculator to give you an equal profit whether it wins or loses. Lowish odds on the win/draw/win markets means you don't get a great return but hey, it is free money.
As it is risk free you could even just take a punt on whoever you think will win and get a good prize if it wins or money back if not.
