ceHi,

Looking for a bit of advice regarding the future of my blog. I have enjoyed blogging but haven't made much progress in terms of followers despite following advice and promoting my blogs. This isn't a pity fest but I also worry about people I know on facebook seeing my posts with hardly any comments. I enjoy producing the content but am running out of steam a bit. I dont want to waste the work I have done so far, so I am considering either self-publishing a book (would probably use a different name to protect my identity) or alternatively sending some of my posts to magazines and papers.

I am also quite keen to limit my facebook use for personal reasons as I struggle with the comparison is the thief of joy aspect and rising above it. Any opinions/advice would be welcome.

Just on the topic of building your traffic

What are you doing to build your backlinks up?

Are all your posts green in YOAST so they are written well for SEO purposes

When was the last time you submitted your site map to google webmaster?

What do your stats actually look like in Google Analyitcs? Are you mostly getting organic traffic or referral traffic?

There is no reason why you can't self-publish your blog as a book. You could also contact magazines with a number of blog posts written as articles and see what they say. If a magazine wants to publish them then fine, let them pay you and then you can blog out a link to the article when it is published.

I've highlighted the most important bit of blogging. Remember this bit. It doesn't matter if you blog once a day, once a week, once a year. If you enjoy it then that is the battle done!

Can we help with how you want your blog to progress?

Hi, sorry for the late reply. I'm going to end up asking some really basic questions now, but I have looked at my Google Analyitcs and I am getting some organic traffic, I have also had three new sign ups this week. By building my backlinks up, do you just mean, posting on Twitter and Facebook. I am using a scheduling took (the free one beginning with S to do the Twitter bit of it) and I also have my blog as a page on Facebook and put new posts on there. On the whole though I am looking to reduce my time spent on Facebook for different reasons. by YOAST do you mean Grammarly, I did download this and I use it, although it isn't the premium version. I have no idea about submitting my sitemap. All in all I have decided to plod on for now

Yoast is this plugin - https://en-gb.wordpress.org/plugins/wordpress-seo/ - It improves the SEO for your posts

Improving your backlinks comes from writing guest posts on other blogs which include a link back to your site.

You can submit your sitemap to Google by going to https://www.google.com/webmasters

Why not do both? One of the most successful lifestyle books "the 4 hour work week" is essentially just a lot of blog posts.

Thanks for that, I might do that. I just wish there were more hours in the day
