Liability is huge, but do remember if you use the same exchange the win liability will only be the worst case liability. Every additional player you place a lay bet on will only increase the overall liability if the liability on that player is worse than your current worse case liability. For the place bets this doesn't kick in until you have the same number of lays that equal the number of places (typically 5) and as this is usually 1/5 the odds then you will eventually have a similar liability on the places as the win. You can of course bet £1 or £2 E/W on the bigger odds players to keep the liability low.
On The Open you do get poor (ish) odds, but you also get a lot more places and bookies giving extra places. Also MB actually has a places market (didn't last week for the Scottish Open for instance), and Smarkets has good (ish) liquidity for the places market (Scottish Open it had a market but there was never any money in there)

I've not done Golf extra places before, and tbh I'm alot more worried about 1 of my bets actually winning in a bookie I haven't used for a while and having to do a couple of grand withdrawal.
Are the odds any better on the other Golf Majors?

If you are on OM their tool is ideal for finding matches. There is a small chance one of your long odds picks comes in, but this is very rare indeed, but it is also true that even one of the big guys winning will also 'win' a few hundred, In any case if you are able to live with the liability you have probably withdrawn big sums from bookies already.
Typically no. The two tournaments last week were much better (the non-majors are usually better odds as you don't have as many places offered). However, in order to get a 'profile' for golf you will need to start on the majors
The Open is the ideal chance to start getting a profile (if you want one) - it is the equivalent of the Grand National for horses as the Bookies see it as a good chance to draw punters in.

I have still been doing the daily £10FBs on Mobilebet since sunday, and all the various free spins offers... things like the BWIN yellow black thing... have won every single time... mostly £1 cash, just did the Ladbrokes Electric tiger thing, got 2 bonus rounds during wagering winning £33.50 then the cash drop was £20...so about £50 something up today.... same drop yesterday...was about £24 up.... Ahh fair point, but 10 Bet were probably best bookie (maybe except B365)on during WC so would expect many to still have money in maybe?... Worth a try even for the free spins
Just a heads up, if I had a £1 for every offer I thought I'd qualified for then reading the t&cs again when the free bet doesn't turn up and tuting and sighing phew I'd have enough for fish n chips for tea at least once
