for me

At middle school it was all about the sports. I did EVERYTHING that was offered to me. Football, Rugby, Basketball, Rounders, Cross Country. Looking back my parents must have hated the sheer amount of travel they took me on to get to the various matches!

At high school I don't have that many FANTASTIC memories to be fair. By the end of year 11 I had been playing musical instruments since I was first in middle school and hated the damn things and just wanted it over and done with (which showed with my D in GCSE Music!). I do remember Peter Andre coming to talk to us thought about how good he thought he was at music during one lesson. This was during his 'Mysterious Girl' phase so the girls all went wild while us men just rolled their eyes endlessly lol

School closing for snow was obviously a big highlight!

Just seen this thread whilst browsing, surprised there wasn't any other stories at the time, I would say my fondest memory is the school giving some of us some free skiing lessons on the artificial slopes near my school.

oooh nice!

They did that with us in Norwich. But Norwich being the EXTREMELY flat place it is it was basically a hill with an artificial slope on it!

Then we all went to Austria with real snow and were like WTF this was NOTHING that like we practiced on lol

Ive never been skiing in the real snow, that's a dream holiday for me but the mrs likes sun sand and unlimited food and drinks holidays lol.

our school never really did fancy holidays, they did the obligatory Disneyland paris trip which my mum couldn't afford and a couple of camping trips which I went on and was class tbf.

Yeah same as my school, as soon as I left it became a sports academy with the classy 3G football pitches and new faculty.

HomeTime, which in 1982 was 3.55pm, not sometime just after lunch as it is for today's pupils!

At my primary school, we had this end of year 6 trip to robin wood or something? It was in wales and it was alright. I liked the zipline and absailing. We also did fencing and i think canoeing but i can't remember.

I look back at school very differently. I didn't particularly enjoy school. However, as a grown man I long for the days where I had 6 weeks off every summer. When I had excitement at Christmas opening presents. When I could go to bed at 2 or 3am, wake up at 5am and feel refreshed. When the world was my house, my street and my nan's house.

Part of me really wishes I could be back there. Instead of working 9-5 every days. Paying tax. Paying a mortgage. Paying Water Bills. Paying Electric.

Fuck me, this is depressing!

Welcome to Monday. And Fuck you too!

It’s hard to tell me this if you REALLY miss the past or just hate your present and want to change a few things!!

I miss playing football in the park most of all. And the plentiful time off. Don't miss the lack of money and occasional boredom.
