So do we think this lockdown will come tonight? Tomorrow? Will we even be able to go out for a walk / run? Will it just be all beaches / parks / tourist points they are applying the lockdown to?
I think tonight. The lack of press conference seemed to take the BBC rather by surprise, which implies that it was meant to happen but that the COBRA meeting is overrunning. Therefore, something big which needs proper thrashing out.

I think unless you have a dog to walk, forget going out. At all.

Yes think unfortunately you probably are correct. Going to be horrible stuck in the house but if it saves lives and stops the virus spreading quickly it will be worth it in the end.

We'll still be able to do that - best mate from college lives in Spain. They can go to the supermarket and the pharmacy, and that's it. That's likely to go on until 15th April for them. I reckon a month for us too would help the NHS enormously.

So like say you had a job at the courts or were an admin person at a hospital you would be able to keep going to work but everyone else is stopped? As I don’t think all companies are letting people work from home still yet so how can they enforce it?

When they said he was addressing the nation, you knew it was coming. I did go to the Supermarket today and it was worse than last time but managed to get a few things which will mean I can avoid going out again until the weekend. If takeaway deliveries are still allowed then should be able to avoid leaving house til Monday!

I always have the freezer well stocked so should be okay for the next month if we really did not go out.. I might try and see how creative I really can be with recipes.

I don't mean to be a Debbie Downer but 80% of net earnings isn't enough. Surely when you're self employed you keep your income as low as possible to pay minimal tax so use expenses to counter balance this. Therefore going by my calculations, 80% would not be enough to live on. Unless we are able to top this up tax credits or universal credits but its so confusing and complicated. I fear that this isn't going to be the solution we are hoping for and I understand a blanket one solution fits all won't work either. So frustrated.

I see Wuhan is going to be lifting its restrictions/travel ban at the start of April. We are what? 3 months behind them? So that's quite a good sign I guess

So the lockdown has been announced but this morning someone tweeted a picture of the London Tube and it was ram-packed, people up against each other, social distancing at it's finest.

A Shanghai-based friend has been lecturing us all on Facebook to behave, stick to the lockdown, and look forward to being able to get out again in late June/early July (whilst still being careful). I hope they're right, as that's a manageable timescale in terms of not losing my mind.

Let's hope the British public behaves and heeds the advice given to us all. I hope that this disease can be contained and eradicated throughout the world so we all can get back to normality. Let's also make sure that this situation makes us become close to one another and ends the division/hatred amongst people and countries. It's a time where we should all be supporting each other and not let politics rule. Basic respect needs to come first.

Here's hoping. However, the old rip a few doors up on the opposite side of the road who ALREADY has an ASBO for reckless driving of his mobility scooter has already been out three times this morning. Mind you, he's not doing anyone any harm at the moment as you'd think the zombie apocalypse had happened in my corner of South East London.

As a friend said last night "I've got the socialist government I dreamed of - however, I didn't want it quite like this". If any positive can be taken, it's that people will not accept austerity any longer - not so much a magic money tree as a forest. And we're also now fully aware of how essential so many more workers are than we'd ever thought. I'm hopeful of more respect, and more of a value on human life.
