I know nothing about apple watches.

I'm looking to find out if is possible to use an Apple Watch for phone calls if you are 15 miles away from your house.. Does the watch hook into the network just like your phone?

For example, If you are out and about and you have 8 GB on phone available you can use that for internet instead of the Wi-Fi that is at home -(obviously unavailable). Does the same happen with the watch? In this case to make internet calls?

My understanding is that the later models can indeed do that as they have SIM cards in them so can make phone calls regardless of if you are near your iPhone

Thanks.

Would these SIM cards be the same as the one in the phone, so you are only paying one bill?

It seems to be just one bill if you click through on here and look at EE / Vodafone etc.

The later models come with different capabilities and are at different price points as a result. The cheaper(!!) ones are non cellular so you need to be within bluetooth connection of your phone to use them to make calls etc. but you can pay a bit more for the watch itself to have cellular capabilities.

Mine is flipping ancient, so that's a no. But the new ones, yes - as others have said, much more expensive, though. Worth trying to get a deal through your network provider so you can upgrade periodically.
