Think I'm more depressed about it now than I was during lockdown.

Agreed but at least we know where it is these days

Spain Numbers seemed to climb in this new “wave” but seem to be levelling out now

You all hover on Twitter as much as I do, so you'll no doubt have seen credible rumours of a short (two weeks), sharp (no one going out at all except for supplies) national lockdown to get the situation back under control.

What do you all think? I think I'm up for that if it means the autumn and winter aren't quite as grim as they might otherwise be.

I don't know about anyone else but I am more depressed about all of this now than when we went into Lockdown. I am more concerned on the long term effects on my job now than before. Even if we are going out competing etc still, the winter which is always a bit pants with horses is going to be even worse with all this Covid stuff going on.
I am lucky that I live outside of town and our area is fairly low on the whole infection thing but my work is international so it does affect me. And that's before we even get to the joys of bloomin' Brexit.

Solidarity. I have one gig in my diary for the rest of 2020. One. Pre-Covid, this was my busiest year yet. I keep telling myself that this is a "darkest before dawn" low (I'm feeling it too). Every single one of my online students has had a complete meltdown this week. Brexit will kill my European jump-ins if Covid doesn't get there first...

New national lockdown 'not needed' right now

Today Programme
BBC Radio 4
There has been speculation that the UK could have to go under a new national lockdown.
But Health Minister Edward Argar says it is not currently needed - "if we get this right with local lockdowns".
"We saw in Leicester it worked, we saw those rates come right down - it does work and it does control it at a local level," he told the Today programme.
"I don't think we are at a place where we would wish to see or need to see a national level of restrictions."
Argar stressed that people needed to stick to the social distancing rules however.

I feel your pain, solidarity here.

I can't really take anything a minister says seriously anymore. World-beating testing system? Bernard Castle Specsavers? A-level algorithm? Breaking international law?

I mean one minister says report those breaking rule of six and then Johnson says something like I've never agreed with the 'sneak culture'. Seriously, WHAT DO YOU WANT US TO DO?

Rugby League is doing pilot events on the 30th Sept

Hopefully your newmarket pilots will still go on!?!??

Updated 2 days ago so seems so

It's being limited to 1000 people, they will mostly be annual members and sponsors. The owners facilities at Newmarket are not the best and we really need to give the owners a good experience or they won't keep their horses in training/buy more to keep racing going.

The biggest problem is that too many people look at the rules and think, "how can I get around this". I am a walk leader for a walking group on Meetup, and we stick rigidly to 6 people, but another group are still advertising walks and going with 30!

Edging upwards but I still don't see anything to be concerned about.
