Sorry I didn't mean it like that.
I meant during the classic case of someone using the martingale system doubling your bets. For example; if someone was betting on black and 10 reds came out in a row. Just because there had been 10 previous reds, the chances of the next one being black isn't influenced by that, it's the same chance it always was. It's random, it's luck, it's out of your control.

True that. I actually worked with a maths teacher once (let me just say that again - she taught maths to secondary school children) who was in a lottery syndicate and she used to record of all the lottery number each week so she could help her syndicate choose the numbers that hadn't come up for a long time so would be 'due' to come in. I just used to bite my tongue and let her get on with it. They never won.
