Other Earning Opportunity Next steps with Etsy shop

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some advice please. I have my Etsy shop which is doing well, and I’d say a good day is like 5-8 orders, but I need to try and double that if I can and I’m not sure where to go next or how? I have a couple of my pictures on eBay but they only really sold at Christmas whereas Etsy has been consistent.

I’m thinking should I be posting things on Pinterest? Twitter? What about getting them on Amazon? Any other sites like Etsy? Not sure if any of them would make a difference?

Sales in April were £1,700+ from Etsy so I just think there’s an opportunity to build on that somehow??

Would love someone who knows what they’re doing to come on board and help me out for a reasonable fee

You have to speculate to accumulate, is it perhaps time to up how much you are spending on advertising?

Possibly. At the minute I spend $10 per day on Etsy and sometimes I don’t get any orders from ads.

Social media. TikTok would be a great place to showcase your work, same goes for Insta.

From a laymans/outsiders view, have you considered the platform risk of only selling on Etsy?
Perhaps worth looking in to selling via your own site/platform?

What about a Facebook store or promote on it privately your new designs or what is seasonal etc

to be fair this is a good point

Why only see the designs on one platform when you can get work from lots of different ones!

Which ones though? I tried Facebook before and I didn’t get any orders from it apart from a few friends. I’ve got them on eBay and they only sold at Xmas. I don’t know what other sites there are apart from Amazon really??

I don’t think that’s as easy to get onto. You have to apply to sell. They charge more. You have to sell your product at a higher price. Also I’ve just searched for “welly print” on there and it only shows up one company’s print, I think they must be like the market leader and there’s no other versions of it on there, so I’m not sure it’s even allowed. I might look at Amazon.

if that's the case then just pump more money into advertising on etsy if that's your main platform and you don't want to diversify

I don't have a clue what I'm doing, and I've set up an online shop using a company called Square Up (not a referral link). They are a card payment processor. I think if I had dedicated time to it, I could have set it all up in a day at the most (it took me weeks because I kept doing half an hour here, half an hour there). You'll already have your images and descriptions etc for your stock, so it should be easy enough to set up. Easier than Amazon! It's really easy to update too, and for a free template, it's quite customisable. They take a card processing fee and that's it. I think it was about 2.5% but not sure. The free option has everything you will need.

If you want to give it a try and need any help with anything, just ask me on here.

There's a similar company called Sum Up (also not a referral link), but I went for Square Up because it was recommended to me. I'm sure there will be other free alternatives too.

To get traffic to your store, whenever you sell on Etsy, just pop a flyer in the package - 10% off when you order direct from my website. Or 5% - just offer the equivalent to what the Etsy fees are so you aren't losing out on profit. And/Or advertise on social media.

Thanks a lot mate. I’m not feeling very ambitious at the moment, having a hard time believing people will visit my site if I made one let alone buy anything. I know I’m being negative just a bit down at the minute but thanks for your help.

It can be difficult getting people to your site but when you post an etsy order you could pop a little flyer with your website details and maybe a discount for buying direct. A woo commerce shop with host presto is about seven quid a month

rich110991. I am a fellow Etsy trader and after a flying start before and up to Christmas, things have quietened down somewhat. My original business is anything baked you can post but since Christmas I have been selling my digital artwork on Etsy as downloadable files to print at home. I have made 7 sales which is nothing and I am feeling disheartened. Any advice as I know you have made tonnes of sales. For you I was going to say to try Etsy Pattern. They use you pictures and data to make you a website and they do a certain amount of marketing for you. The first month is free then I think its about £9/10 a month after that! I have one running for both my online businesses but I also have an Insta account attached to my Etsy Pattern with the LATER app posting scheduled posts each each. Hope this is helpful to you.
