I got my call up yesterday - getting it done on Saturday, they are not allowing us to have AZ, only Pfizer or Moderna. I had thought I was getting AZ as I carry Epipens due to weird allergies that mean I have gone into full blown anaphylaxis.
I give my moderna experience an 8 out of 10 lol

I've got weird allergies too and have had a full blown anaphylaxis reaction. I went for mine and the nurse and Doc went into a huddle and discussed it, then gave me the Pfizer jab. Luckily all was well :)

Wish this Indian variant would go away

or at least they would focus less on case numbers for it compared to hospitalisations and deaths!

This 'surge jabbing' in areas where infections are happening makes FAR more sense to me than doing local lockdowns. Surely we only had to do that before because we didn't actually HAVE a vaccine, now we do!

Depends if the vaccines work effectively against the Indian variant.

so far they are saying there's no evidence it doesn't which is a good thing!
And where people *are* getting it (i.e. the care home where they've had 15 cases), there're no serious illness, and more importantly, no deaths.

I had my second jab last week AZ and wife had her 2nd Pzier this very afternoon. My second AZ jab hurt a tad the next day for 48 hours then was fine. I believe it's the Pzier jabs that hurts your arm a little more compared to AZ from speaking to friends and family who have had theirs personally (not WhatsApp or Telegram forwards.)
We are both under 43 btw.
In my humble opinion the biggest factor in whether your arm aches the next day is the quality of the nurse and how good her/his hands are. You can get a mixed bag! But it's just a prick, a very very minor one!

For me, the question is why is our quarantine system not fit for purpose? How has the variant been allowed to spread here? Quarantining from red countries has to be more rigorously applied at our entry points. It doesn't have to turn into a mini prison experience if done sensibly and professionally ie hotels used should have windows that open, full wi-fi so people can work, access to outdoor space plus a gym, and decent food choices. Better this than local lockdowns (which do not work) and a return to restrictions.

I had Pfizer. After the first one, my arm was so painful that I got 'trapped' trying to get my PJ top off over my head in the morning and had to yell for help - other half thought it was hilarious! Second one, I had the slightest of aches, if I thought about it, so maybe it is down to how good Nursey is at darts, who knows. :)

I wonder if it’s to do with if you tense your arm when they do the injection - maybe loosening the muscle when they do it makes a difference

My second one, I was jabbed in the back of the arm. Made a world of difference. I think it also has a lot to do with who is doing your jab - a medic, who has a more comprehensive idea of muscle groups etc., and a trained volunteer, who has been told where to find the deltoid and not much else.

(I should add, this is from someone who is training to be a jabber...no disrespects to other volunteers!)

Maybe if they offered jabs to the backside, it has lots of fat, so may not hurt as bad the following day. Hehe

OK. I'll get my coat!
