Coronavirus Discussion So.... The Coronavirus / COVID-19

Damn, you beat me to it. Was just doing those sums! I'd lay money on a fortnight's "wait and see".

Coronavirus Discussion So.... The Coronavirus / COVID-19

My corner of London starting to look like a hotspot too according to the ZOE app. Maths geek here hasn't sat down with the numbers on a piece of paper yet, but the week on week increase to my eye looks like 30% (cases) on last Friday rather than 60% the week before. The implication is it's...

Coronavirus Discussion So.... The Coronavirus / COVID-19

I think 21st June is going to be a half-step rather than pushed back. Putting it selfishly, I hope so. I don't really want to lose the income from the same concert now on its third time of re-booking AGAIN.

I expected higher, even with the Bank Holiday backlog. The next week is going to give a clearer picture.

They will be, but remember it's 3-4 days worth of figures and try not to panic. We won't get a clear picture again until Tuesday or Wednesday of next week.

Coronavirus Discussion So.... The Coronavirus / COVID-19

I've just bought the enormous bunch of flowers I promised myself if/when we had a zero deaths day.

Coronavirus Discussion So.... The Coronavirus / COVID-19

I hope they clear the Novavax soon - I've got a few colleagues and a couple of family who were on the trial (I offered myself but they weren't interested in people who'd had Covid at that point), know they're fully vaccinated, and don't even have it on their medical record as it's not approved yet.

Coronavirus Discussion So.... The Coronavirus / COVID-19

You're not kidding. There is NOTHING new to suggest why they can't meet, and they were allowed to last Autumn when we were in a significantly worse position than we are now. I'm £1,200 in the hole again for three gigs that were rebooked for mid-June and now can't happen. Also, it's not just...

Coronavirus Discussion So.... The Coronavirus / COVID-19

I get the impression they're shying away from that somewhat now. I mean, I know bugger all, but I still like my theory that nature abhors a vacuum, i.e. the new variant picked up the slack of the old variant.

Question / Discussion People Per Hour Payment Issues

In fairness, I should say that within the past half hour I have been paid all the outstanding money I'm owed. But it took me replying to EVERY social media post they'd made over the past month to ask why they weren't paying freelancers, starting a new chat every hour on the hour, and asking why...

Question / Discussion People Per Hour Payment Issues

Just as a heads up, there would appear to be significant payment issues through People Per Hour at present. A quick look through their social media accounts would indicate that some freelancers have been waiting over a month for money that is already in escrow, and therefore has presumably...

Coronavirus Discussion So.... The Coronavirus / COVID-19

Just read something on the BBC website which implies the bump was caused by people rushing back to the UK before India went on the red list, and it's actually no more transmissible. Same Covid, different bucket, if you like. I'll keep looking forward to teaching face to face next month, and...

Coronavirus Discussion So.... The Coronavirus / COVID-19

My second one, I was jabbed in the back of the arm. Made a world of difference. I think it also has a lot to do with who is doing your jab - a medic, who has a more comprehensive idea of muscle groups etc., and a trained volunteer, who has been told where to find the deltoid and not much else...

And where people *are* getting it (i.e. the care home where they've had 15 cases), there're no serious illness, and more importantly, no deaths.

Hardly. Opera singers are still largely viewed as murderers... Pleased that the club end of hospitality has been thrown a bone, though.

I'm a bit more convinced that's a light at the end of the tunnel now, rather than another train coming straight for us!

    Transcribe Work speech recording Neevo

I'd assumed I was on the naughty step as I more or less overnight became a 24 hour carer at the beginning of February and ignored every email. This both reassures me and worries me that there won't be any more work. Now I'm coming up for air, I could do with something to earn money at 3am.

Coronavirus Discussion So.... The Coronavirus / COVID-19

The day I panicked and went over to ask if I could be seen as a walk-in, they had two jabbers working - one for Pfizer, one for AZ. The queues were something to behold. There are definitely supply bumps around the country, no doubt about it. Just from putting two and two together on Twitter...

Coronavirus Discussion So.... The Coronavirus / COVID-19

Should be - check whether the place you had yours is doing second dose walk-ins. I had no invitation for my second jab (because I didn't get one in my own right for my first!), so had to ask when it got to 12 weeks minus 2 days!

I'm due my second in a few weeks (as is Mum). Stocking up on paracetamol again.
