So, as I've said, I'm planning on looking to monitise my blog in 2019. By that I mean I will be willing to have sponsored posts on there.

I'm sure there are things I need to do and my questions are as follows;

1) What 'pre-work' can I do on my blog?
I'm planning on adding the media kit to my blog. Is there anything else I can work on now ready for making myself more attractive?

2) Is there a formula to working out what I should charge?
Do you work out how long a 'post' takes to create? Do you do it as a multiplier of your viewing stats? Is it based on your DA?

3) Anyone I should avoid taking sponsored posts from?
Is there a dodgy company that treats bloggers like rubbish?

4) I know I need to pay tax on my earnings (I have a day job), do I need to tell the tax man straight away?
Also, I plan to put 50% of all earnings into a savings accounts to pay the taxman. Can I deduct costs from this figure (web hosting/research/IT equipment/etc)?

Anything else I should think of?

:)

Thanks,

The Reverend
Hi, it is an old post, but I would like to mention couple of points from client's point of view.
Your DA is 19, which is quite low to be attractive. I don't think you get anything by placing just a link (for SEO) somewhere in the content. However, it seems you have lots of traffic on your website which could be interesting for referral traffic. For that there needs to be dedicated post, review of product or accepting guest posts.

You would still get a ££ for backlinks being placed even with a DA of 19

Seo folk care about all sorts of metrics now such as trustflow etc

I've been getting paid for backlinks since my DA was 20 or 21. My biggest fee just for a link was £400 a few weeks ago.

I just want to say I have been accepted for House of Silver's kind offer of a product review. I would be grateful for any help promoting the post once its published.

Just a follow-up.

After over a year of having Media.net ads running I got $119 from them on the 30th August.

On the 16th September I binned all their ads.

:)

Hope you get on better with whichever ad platform you go to next!

I'm hoping that my inside track makes good on there promise to let me know, based on their experience, why I'm being rejected.
have you heard anything back yet from the dream team?

Such is life.

I've not lost anything in trying. :)
Have you got any further with MediaVine?

Everyone and their dog seems to be slowing their site down with their ads at the moment lol

Have you look at other networks you can easily use

DoubleClick, Infolinks, RevenueHits, Intellinks

There's a boatload of other ones you can use out there
