Energy prices aside we seem to be on course for some big ass price increases coming our way!

BT
Customers signed up for BT Fibre 2 with a landline phone currently pay £34.99 a month but will be charged £38.24 from April
Over the year, that works out at an extra £39 on their internet bill
BT said the average price increase will be £3.50 a month - or £42 a year
Yesterday the company said it "remains committed to supporting customers facing financial hardship and have a number of options to help them".

VODAFONE
Vodafone customers who took out a contract from December 9, 2020 will see their bills rise by the CPI rate plus 3.9%.
That means its Superfast 2 broadband deal will go up £1.86 a month - costing an additional £22 a year.
Vodafone said most customers will end up paying between £2.32 to £2.88 extra a month - that totals £34.56 a year

BT Especially have been in the news

But I expect Sky, Virgin Media etc to all follow suit!

I'm not even sure jumping ship to other companies would pay off at this point!

Anyone else worried?

I've had an email from Virgin Mobile to say they are doing the same as Vodafone wef 1st April 2022. Virgin Media have told me there will be an increase of £8 or £9 on my broadband/tv package when my current deal ends in September, that will be in addition to any other increase they apply!

Yeah mobile cost increases I think are going to be bad this year - these companies just have us over a barrel if we can't leave and go elsewhere as EVERYWHERE is high!

A great time to increase pricing for companies as people are 'expecting' all costs to go up.

I think our food shop has gone up 20-40% in the past 12 months.

wait until people finally go to Europe...

Why are you questioning your Roaming charges, didn't the UK vote to leave Europe?

Hmm a good point. Wonder how many companies will do that under the guise of 'well everyone else is doing it'

I think shopping around for sim only deals is key, and being realistic about how much data you actually use can help reduce your bills. Most people pay for tons more than they use. There are some great deals listed on the green site.

I switched my daughter's phone to Virgin Mobile last year on Black Friday and it was only £12 a month for 20GB of data so I'll be moving the whole family there as soon as contracts end. Disappointing with BT, I wonder which customers don't have to pay as they say people on benefits?

If you are with BT for your landline/BB have a look at their sim only deal. £10 per month gets you 30gb data.

Is everyone waiting for the energy price news today??!?

Hope it's not too bad? What are we meant to do? Just survive using heat from a firepit or something?

Damn, 54%. That is worse than was suggested. I seriously worry for many people right now. Apparently Rishi Sunak will be making an announcement later today, hopefully with some help for people. They laughed at Corbyn wanting to renationalize utilities.

Only if you live in a house in band A to D. Still £200 towards electricity is better than expected. Sadly it will be wiped out by the NI increase for many people.

I think we all need to find out ways to stay warm without turning on the heat. I got an oodie for xmas, basically a wearable blanket, it will definitely be worn a lot til spring!

Any help for businesses? Keeping a big open plan office heated over the winter must cost a lot. Schools also.
