I had the customer service chat of all chats yesterday....

I moved into a new house in December and so far not had one bill through properly. I got a water meter put in and so yesterday wanted to get an idea of what my bill (in 6 months time) might be.

Speaking with somone on the online chat, I was told that the price per cubic metre for water was £154, and waste £94. I explained to the person that meant I had used £1848 worth of water in 2 months. They seemed to be fine with that and asked me to set up a direct debit to help to start clearing it.

I knew it was wrong so called to confirm and as I knew it was £1.54 and £0.94. So worked out around £30 for two months.

Nice to know their customer service people have no idea.

Just found this in Martin's the green site newsletter, it shows your personalised Amazon offers, maybe different for everyone but it got me £7 off a £20 order when I had it delivered to the Post Office...trying to find savings where I can at the moment and cat food is cheaper on Amazon than locally.... Limited to first 10k customers

Also, has anyone else found the price comparison sites are useless for comparing energy companies at the moment?

I think Martin Lewis has been pretty much saying that they're all sh**e at the moment. I've stuck with OVO for a few years, purely on the basis that they're about the best of a sorry bunch imo...

Well today it was VirginMedias turn to annoy me with a price increase.

I am at the end of my contract with the

I was paying £61 a month and now they want £91 a month for the exact same package! (so an increase of a third basically!)

Used their whatsapp service to chat to them and we agreed on £66 a month for the same package for 18 months but what worries me is that millions of people will get these ridiculous price increase bills when they are out of contract and do nothing about it and just pay what they ask!

Wow that's some increase. My friend was with Sky and she is a good haggler. She couldn't get it down anywhere near what new customers get so she's switched to BT TV I think she said and got Netflix, Britbox, Disney etc thrown in for a cheaper price than Sky wanted.

I can see roughly what my bill will change to when my current deal ends. I pay £89 per month with VM at the moment but as it stands that will go up to £131.50 in September. It seems basically they do this so that they can offer you a deal, like the one you mention, that gives them the security of tying you in for a further 18 months.

My Eon went from 80 to 150, but the following month I used less than 140...so hopefully dd's can be lowered in the future. Anyone got their £150 rebate? Nothing here...

That’s actually an increase of about 50%!!!!!! It’s obscene.

I got my £150 rebate last week. I was very surprised to get it so soon.
Nobody else that I know has had theirs yet.

All I can say guys is that I have been with Octopus Energy for several years now and could not be happier with their service. Even now, I know that energy prices for all is happening, but we continue to be billed the same set amount we have been for the last 2 years or more?...and we are in credit??.......and yes, I do give them a meter reading most months.

Anyone who interested in switching and getting £50 cashback for doing so, please feel free to use my referral link:

We are also with Sky for broadband and wi-fi, and anytime they have increased prices or my contract has come to an end, I have managed to negotiate a better deal which has meant us staying with them.

Re: Fuel prices.....we are Costco members and are paying the lowest in petrol and fuel around. If you are public sector workers, or emergency workers (don't know what other job criteria there are?) and have a Costco near you, I recommend getting a membership as we have saved pounds on fuel.

I know, I heard this on the news today..that the average price of gas bills per year will be over £2K per household????!! I think the Government will have to step in and do something because this will end up with so many in poverty. Other countries are helping their people out, so I do not understand why ours can't? What is the point of Ofgem if they just accept these huge increases, I thought they were meant to protect the consumer? There is no reason not to get the Energy companies to pay back some of the big windfalls they have had?
