By the sounds of it, very specialised and specific tools are the way to go for this?

Special tools of vintage era can command good prices, but there are lots of other items worth considering.

Antiques are a good way to go. Sometimes I will sell the odd antique (over 100 years old). There are many books that fit this category.

I started with antiques but wandered into Militaria and Toys. They seem to do better than traditional antiques now. I think there has been a shift in the last 10 years in money being spent moving from old ladys collecting ceramics and traditional antiques to middle aged men buying up things from their childhood.

I think I may fast be turning into one of those middle aged men given the contents of my display cabinets!!!

I don't realty have a speciality, I just buy items that I think will make money. Although I didn't buy them, there were several unopened 5 litre cans of Cuprinol wood preservative for sale this morning at the carboot at a cost of £3 per can. They sell on ebay for £30-40. I didn't buy because of the sending weight, but a bargain for a reseller.

I think even everyday tools can fetch a good price, but I expect it would take a while to know what to look for. My friend is a builder and he has some vintage tools he has paid a lot of money over and he loves and adores them! He has a chisel that looks like an ordinary chisel to me, but he is adamant that it is much nicer to use than modern ones. I think he ended up in a bidding war for it!

I recently sold a chisel for £20 that cost £2, but they can go for lots of money!
