Hi, I have created free blogs in the past but never a paid blog/website. I feel a little nervous about making a paid one in case I make mistakes and waste money etc. I am wanting to make two separate sites, one for me a lifestyle blog and I am wanting to make a website for a close friend for his business.

Firstly, I know you can have more than one site on one account but is this a good idea? Sharing bandwidth etc and if I wanted to keep the sites separate for tax reasons etc and if I wanted to give him the login details, I take it both sites would have the same password if under one account.

As well as the questions above, what package would I really need? For my friends' site which I would probably do first, his business is within animal breeding/stud, so there would be a lot of pictures on the site. So for example with Kloudhost which I know this site is on, for the starter package of £2.99 (is this with a domain name or do you need to pay extra per month for this as well?) This package gives you 3GB space, (is this per month?) how many pages of text and pictures would this be good for? How good is 30GB of bandwidth? I wouldn't want the site to keep going down. About the mailboxes, I know some have their emails in with their site, some say however that it's better to keep your email separate, that if your site goes down etc you can still access your email one reason.

My question about having different websites on one account is above. Or are the two other packages the best the premium or ultimate? If I did do the two sites separately I would have to pay for each per month separately I know, whereas if they were under the same account you only have the one payment per month. But my worries are as I said above about doing them on the same account.

I'm not sure what to do but really do want to do this for both.

Kloudhost £2.99 does NOT include a domain name. A .com costs £9.95 a year and a .co.uk is £6.95 a year however if you use the discount code for the money shed ( https://www.themoneyshed.co.uk/inde...t-20-off-website-hosting-with-kloudhost.8800/ )you will get 20% off the entire purchase

In terms of separating the sites there is nothing stopping you making the second Wordpress blog and then giving them the administrator login details for WP so they can have full control of the blog

I Run my 3 websites under the ULTIMATE package which allows me to create an additional 7 websites and not pay anymore :)

That 30gb bandwidth is more than enough for you. As a comparison a website of this size that is 4 years old and sends FAR more traffic than a blog due to being a forum sends around 45gb a month

If your site went down your email would still work so don't worry about that

Good hosting is good hosting and kloudhost in the 15+ years I've been running websites are without doubt the best I have used in the UK both in terms of speed and the quality of customer service

If you have any other questions please just ask, am happy to help!

Thank you Jon for your great reply.

- So would you have to pay £9.95 per year for the domain name twice if you had two sites on your account? Plus the monthly amount as well.

- In regards to giving them the log in details for the 2nd site I made for their business one, would that password give them access to my blog as well and the full account or just their site? I do trust them so it's not a major issue either way really.

- It's good to know that 30gb bandwidth would be enough thank you. What about the 3 gb SSD space? Would that be enough per month for two sites which would most likely be picture heavy and have a lot of pages? Or would the Premium be better? I think maybe Ultimate at the moment for me would be overkill.

- Would it matter which site I did first on the account? Say I did my friend's first, would this be the main or would it matter which was made first?

- Making two sites on the same account wouldn't link the sites in anyway, would it? I wouldn't want my lifestyle blog to impact on his business website etc?

- How hard is it to set up the site with WP etc? I've seen some WP examples and some just seem cluttered. this is a site that I kind of like the look of: http://www.emmarr.co.uk/ would WP have this kind of layout etc? I've only ever done things on Blogger before.

Thank you for reading and any answers and sorry for so many questions.

Yes you pay for domain names each year - that's just standard across all hosting platforms. It can cost a bit less if you buy the domain for 2-3-4 years up front

If you give them the Wordpress login details for their blog they will only be able to get into that install of Wordpress not yours

Why not choose premium if you are concerned about size - it's not that much more to be honest

It doesn't matter which website gets created first

No the two sites aren't linked in anyway just like mine aren't

Wordpress is literally a one click install but the kloudhost supper guys can help you if you get stuck with anything

Jon has pretty much covered everything.

I currently host 3 sites under my hosting, one of which is my husband's. He has complete access to his own site and nothing to do with my own - I have access to his but that's purely so I can assist him with the admin side of things if I need to.

You can buy domain names cheaper from places such as GoDaddy, it cost my husband £20 to buy his .com and .co.uk for 2 years but then there is the additional mess around of having to use a separate provider and redirecting the URL. I find it easier to keep everything in the same place.

When it comes to design there are 1000's of free designs and layouts you can choose from, from simple to fancy. You can spend extra to have one built for you or buy a "premium" one that someone else sells - Pipdig themes are very popular. Earlier in the year my husband and I learnt how to design our own sites as we wanted something unique, his is currently going through a complete revamp (www.virtualwombat.com) and I'll be updating my lifestyle one once he's done with his to add more of the functions that we've discovered.

Any good hosting company is happy to help, including getting it all up and running for you. Mine help me with the silliest of questions and recently taught me how to clone my site to a subdomain after trying to do it myself and failed! haha

If in doubt there are loads of videos on YouTube about getting started or a whole host of experienced bloggers on this forum :)
