Hello,

I'm starting this thread as I want to make a certain amount of money online this month (and every month) and want to keep myself motivated/focused and accountable.

I have an old thread from last year, but want to start afresh.

My aim this month is £500. If I make more than that, that'll be great, but my initial aim is £500.

Most of it will be via proofreading.

I managed to make £500 in January and February, so it's doable. However, that was when I had a regular proofreading client. I still think it's doable, though.

Over the past few months, my challenges have been:

- trying to juggle online work with other/increased work commitments

- my sleeping pattern (I tend to go to bed late and most of the proofing work comes through in the morning)

- losing my main proofreading client (significant loss of income. I used to proofread a lot of their emails.)

So far, I've made about £33. Part of it's from last month, which I'll receive towards the end of the month.

I think if I organise myself better and sleep better, I can reach my goal and possibly surpass it.

@Emsa22: To be honest, I don't really know as there isn't one way to get there. I don't have a qualification. I started by proofreading a few friends' poetry collections and magazines (I was a poet at the time). This was years ago. Just one-off stuff. Then a couple years later, I started looking online and eventually found a few positions via Craigslist, then it was off from there.

I don't make a full-time income from it, though there are many proofreaders who probably do.

Update:

I'm up to £43.80 (proofreading).

Haven't had enough sleep in the past two days. Will try and get an early night tonight.

Update:

So far, I've made £66.70 in total. For me, this isn't good enough if I'm to hit my target of £500 by the end of the month.

There's a guaranteed £120 coming from other online work I do (customer support), so I need to make about £315/£320 more. I can do it. I just need to buckle my ass down. Lol!

There's also about £20 coming from a crowdsourcing task site called Neevo (used to be called DefinedCrowd). I don't know if I'll get paid this month as the project hasn't closed yet.

Anyway, it would help if I went to bed by midnight tonight. I woke up at 7.30 am today and it felt like a productive day. I just need to master how to juggle online and offline work.

What is the customer support work you do?
Good luck with your target.

@lyns86: It's for the site where I proofread (TextRanch).

Thanks for the good luck wish. :)

Up to £80.14 (all proofreading for now).

I woke up early again - earlier than yesterday - and managed my time a bit better. I also felt rested in the morning.

Plan to hit the sack by 11.30pm/midnight.

Adequate rest and being more organised/focused; that's how I plan to hit my target.

On that note, smoothie, TV (been watching the OA), bed.

I'm up to £97.90 (still all proofreading). Gonna aim to get it up to £120 or so over the weekend.

My sleep hygiene's improving. Going to bed earlier and waking up earlier.

My focus on online work could still be better.

Didn't manage to hit £120 over the weekend. I'm around £114 at the mo'.

Woke up early - got out of bed as soon as the alarm went off. Yay, me. :)

Did stuff I had to do and was on the computer by 8.15/8.30.

Let's see what the day brings.

Happy Monday, all.

I'm at £126.10. Still all from proofreading for now.

I'm growing to prefer days to nights - I want as much of it as possible - so last night, I set my alarm for 6.30 am (was up at 6.00, though) and was asleep by around 10/10.30 pm.

I want to start factoring in naps as well. I think it would be good for me.

Update:

Up to £145.06.

I'm getting enough sleep, but been feeling tired over the past few days. Been up about three or four hours and I feel sleepy already. Going to adjust what I'm eating/drinking and also start napping.

Update:

£165.43 (
£215 to go as I have a set £120 on its way towards the end of the month)

I started having mostly smoothies a few days ago. If what I'm eating is contributing to my tiredness, then I want to tackle that. I'm not new to the smoothie life - just haven't been at it like I used to be a few years ago.

I'm also getting much more sleep and sleeping earlier. Just not taking naps yet which I'm kind of resisting. Maybe I should just start by lying down and see how that goes!

Update:

I'm up to £190.12! And it's not all from proofreading this time! I got some of the payment I'd been waiting for from Neevo - £17.02. (Neevo's a crowdsourcing task site - used to be called DefinedCrowd).

I went to bed really late last night, so I wasn't as productive as I could have been today. At some point, I just decided to chill for the rest of the day as I wasn't really able to focus. I did some work, but it wasn't the Monday I planned - totally my fault, though.

Anyway, tomorrow's another day. Tomorrow will be my Monday. :)

I forgot I have about £22 coming my way for proofreading a few weeks ago :). I also have a client I hadn't heard from since Feb get in touch with me yesterday for some work, so another £13 or so in the proofing kitty once it's done. :)

I was up around 7.15 today and was on my computer by 8.30. Not bad as I usually have bits and bobs to do before going online. However, I'd like to cut it down to an hour at the most from getting out of bed.

Update:

Proofreading: £203.03
Neevo: £17.02

Total: £220.05/£500 (previous: £190.12/£500)

I've been paid for the proofreading job I mentioned, the £13 one. I got paid a bit more (£14.29) as there was a bit more content.

They also want me to do another job, smaller this time. I'll be getting about £12 for that.

I also snagged a proofreading job this morning worth around £31! Yay!

Update:

Proofreading: £217.75
(previous: £203.03)
Neevo: £22.72 (prev: £17.02)

Total: £240.47/£500 (previous: £220.05/£500)

I got myself another proofreading assignment. Don't know exactly how much it'll pay yet, but it'll be at least £50, I think. (Update: It's roughly £80. Squee!)

I might also be getting more work from the client I hadn't heard from since February. We'll see.

A week to go now 'til the end of the month. All in all, I'm expecting an additional £170 (from proofreading and customer support work), so that'll take my total up to £410. If I can complete the £50 job by the 26th/27th, it'll take me up to £460. If I do, then I have about a week to make the remaining £40 to reach my £500 total.

Sleep: I've been going to bed quite late recently and not sleeping enough hours. Gonna try and have an early night tonight.

My weekend was busy as I had lots of proofreading to do amongst other things. Managed to get two big proofing jobs done worth roughly £110, which helped me reach my £500 target!

Update:

Proofreading: £360.34
(previous: £217.75)
Neevo: £22.72 (no change)
Customer support: £126.19

Total: £509.25/£500!
(prev: £240.47/£500)

I'm not expecting much else between now and Friday, but you never know.

June Update

Been a slow start to the month for a few reasons (only at £50.11 at the mo'). However, I'm refocusing today.

Sleep could be improved, but it's not too bad. Late late nights aren't the norm for me anymore.

Want to get back into the swing of things with online work this week and make considerably more than I did last week.

I'm up to £63.62.

Woke up at 6.30 am yesterday and 6.45 am today. Yay, me! Lol!

I'm in control today. Offline work is already underway (I do a lot of laundry) while I work online.

I'm ready to receive all the money there is to make today.
