Afternoon all! So I'm aiming to earn £1-£1.5k a month online - one of our income streams has stopped to COVID and the business I was about to launch can't happen in current times either, so I'm looking for other ways to earn online!

So I firstly wanted to see if there are any avenues I'm missing; but also I was really interested in finding out from those of you that already make the amount, how do you do it!

Here goes for me:-

Matched betting Most of my income has come from this really, although it's predominantly casino as I don't have many bookies left where I can take advantage of bet & get offers. I also dabble in extra places and each way no lay.

Lionbridge ad evaluation I've been doing this too, although I have a feeling it comes to an end soon!?

UTest I'm on a couple of projects that bring in a small amount of £

Appen I've been accepted onto 4-5 projects over the last time but can't progress any of them due to issues their side at the moment (can't see guidelines, can't access exam, etc) So hoping these are rectified soon!

User testing I manage to get on a few of these each month to top up earnings.

Prolific Same as above

So that's it! Here are some things that I need to look into:-

Trading Thinking this is a logical step from MBing - have looked into the very basics of it but haven't progressed yet

Amazon arbitrage Haven't looked into this at all, so not sure if it's viable or where to begin

Printing Same as above, seen it mentioned on here but haven't looked into it all!

Blogging Haven't progressed at all but quite tempted to give this a go if it has decent earning potential

I don't bother with other survey sites apart from Prolific, or Roamler etc as there aren't enough round here to make it worth while. Same with ebay reselling, ever seem to have much success with that!

Any thoughts are very welcome, and I'd love to find out how other people are managing this amount!

:)

It sounds like you want to be more in control of the online income you make so what about stuff like Etsy, eBaying etc

Yes, that's exactly it! With the flexibility of working when I want too :)

I can't seem to make eBay work for me - I enjoy doing it but don't have a clue what I'd sell. At the moment I just sell my old clothes/shoes etc but gave up on that as it just wasn't going for a decent amount and wasn't worth the time.

With Etsy, I don't know of anything that I could make really!

You should have a chat with @rich110991 who’s bringing in £1000+ a month on Etsy!

Beyond that, like you said the earning potential with blogging is unlimited so what’s stopping you there?

I've very tempted actually, I just need a chunk of time to properly look into it. I guess the only thing that's putting me off is how long it would take to become profitable? At the moment I'm prioritising the things like matched betting where it's bringing in money there and then because I'm struggling to reach the figure that I need each month. Hard to justify spending a couple of hours researching when I could be earning in that time :( I realise I need to take a longer term view though! Just hard when I have a target to reach and not loads of time to do it!!

What do you not have long to reach the target?

Also the set up costs for a blog, haven't looked into that yet so no idea what that would be!

As you can see from the banners for hosting companies I promote on here it’s not much

Thank you, I'll take a proper look at that then and Etsy. I definitely want to be more in control of my earnings as it's a pain when sometimes you feel like you're spending too much time looking for opportunities/chasing up companies etc.

Do you think a figure of £1k-£1.5k per month is doable?

yes as long as you are dedicated to build up to that level of income

Do you mean in terms of it not being a quick thing, that I'll need to work at it for a while to get to the £?

Looking at it, I definitely think Etsy and blog would be the way forward? I would love to do eBay so maybe I need to do some research into what would sell well and make a profit!

yes. So i mean blogging might take say 6+ months for you to start making money and it's far more than just creating content it's just as much about promoting it on social media etc

yep that makes sense. I think that’s why I have been putting off doing it - but I know it will be a good thing to start.
I think I’ve exhausted all of the more immediate earners haven’t i?
Thanks for all your advice!

think about it this way.

There is enough money in blogging that I quit my full-time job in local government management to do it full time and now work less hours and have a FAR better work/life balance with a higher income

Yeah I need to remember that. I guess I need to get out of the mindset that it's just the lucky few that make a decent income from blogging

While you try avenues, learn to trade. If you can learn where the big boys go in and out, its easy. Look at it over a 2 year period and it pays dividends for your future.
