Hi, I have received several emails over the past few weeks telling me that I have a new registration on my site and giving me the person's username and email address. Could anybody tell me what this means please. Thanks

No idea who is the email from?

WordPress?

Do you let people register on your site?

Yes the emails are from Wordpress, below is an example

New user registration on your site With Boys:

Username: exampleusername

Email: exampleemail@exampleemailaddress.com
I’ve had a look at your blog and can’t see anything obvious that would cause those emails.

The only thing I noticed is you appear to copy your entire blog post each time onto your Facebook page - is there a reason for that? Do you copy it anywhere else that perhaps allows people the ability to register so they comment?

Hi, yes I also have my blog set up as a facebook page so I copy it across once I have done the post. It isn't copied anywhere else. I put a link to my blog post on twitter and on here as well

Hi @OCTOPUS - it does look like you've got registrations enabled on your blog. Wordpress has a default location for its user registration page - yours is here:

http://www.withboys.com/wp-login.php?action=register

(Try visiting in a different browser to what you usually use, or use youre browser's Incognito or Private Browsing mode. Wordpress will probably redirect you if you are logged in already.)

It's easy to fix. Just log into your admin Dashboard, an click 'Settings'.

About a third of the way down the page there should be an option called 'Membership'. Make sure the 'Anyone can register' is NOT ticked, then save the page.

Once you've done that try visiting the page that I posted the URL to above (again, in Incognito mode). Hopefully the page should tell you that you can't register.

Let me know how you get on :)
